[edit] Neutrality: Mentioning Nationality, Religion

One sentence says...

He helped organise and was a member of a Muslim Lebanese Australian gang rape attack squad in two of the Sydney gang rapes attacks in Sydney, Australia in 2000.

Do we really need to mention the race and religion of the perpetrator? It's really not important in this instance and subtly demeans Lebanese Australians and Muslims. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 12:10, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes we do Tariq, these were racially motivated hate crimes against women just because of their race. It is clearly integral to the article. I would posit that the crimes themselves did more than "subtly demean" innocent australian women. Face it, not only skinheads commit race hate crimes and you're just gonna have to grin and bare it. [edit] You CANT explain a hate crime without saying who hate who and why

Nationality and Religion were as integral to these crimes as the heinous nature of the actual rapes. This is unpisputed in all the media articles and documentaries made about these crimes. Those unfamiliar with the particulars of these crimes should read up a little before brandishing PC neutrality questions. As much as we'd like to never see a minority who commits a crime, revealed to be a minority, the facts of this case are that a minority who racially and religiously hated a majority group (the white girls who were brutally raped) did commit a hate crime. And the fact that we are used to hate crimes being against minorities instead of by them is no excuse to not represent the FACTS which are that these were hate crimes...anyone can see this is the case. I am committed to ensuring that the truth about these hate crimes be stated on wikipedia for perpetuity...do not doubt my resolve. --203.208.102.224 14:36, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
