Mohd Effendi Norwawi

Dato Seri Mohd Effendi bin Norwawi is a current Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. He was appointed to the position on February 14, 2006. He is responsible for the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) and the Department of Statistics (DOS). He is a graduate of the Malay College and the University of Tasmania, and is of Melanau descent.[1]

In December 1999 he was Minister of Agriculture until 2004.

His last post in Cabinet was Minister of Special Functions in charge of national macro economic development.He resigned in 2004 due health reasons. He is currently a member of PBB.

In September 2004 he was appointed as the special envoy to the Ministry of Higher Education.

He is married to Y.Bhg. Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina. His wife Tiara is a well-known film producer and actress. She was also involved in film and stage production.

They have 3 daughters (Efeida Effendi, Elyna Effendi and Hani Karmila) and 2 sons (Mohd Ezra Effendi and Mohd Eridani Norwawi Effendi).

He is an active sportsman who loves tennis, golf and Aikido. Additionally, he is a guitar enthusiast.
