Mohawk and Headphone Jack

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mohawk and Headphone Jack is a 2D rotational game released during the end of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System lifetime. (The actual date of release is January 1st 1996.) It was developed by Black Pearl Software, published by THQ, Inc and distributed by Electro Source. The programming credit for the game is held by D. Scott Williamson. The game spins around and around wildly in a circle, changing the rotation of the map also, and making it difficult to continue in the right direction. Rock and roll music plays in the background as one or two player attempt to negotiate a treacherous series of platforms throughout the games' 14 levels. This game is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. The game features a menu option of volume level from 1 to 11 as a This is Spinaltap movie reference.

The aim of each level is to collect enough CDs in order to open the exit to the next level. The CD number in the top left-hand corner will sound an alert and begin flashing when the required number has been reached. The exit appears on the map as a flashing X (not to be confused with the player's current location) after the required number of CDs has been reached. There are different coloured CDs worth a different amount of points, as well as large CDs that can be collected that unlock different audio tracks (the best one being Elephant Funk). Every second level ends with a boss, and will lead to a different world upon completion.

Mohawk's health is represented by yellow triangles and each time he is hit by an enemy, the number will go down (maximum of five). Spike's bring instant death. He can also collect floating balls (maximum of 3) which allow him to explode, killing all enemies on screen. There are also a variety of forms mohawk can become including wheelie, springs, angel and mer-hawk.

Se n Sacco are the only reported players to have ever passed the third level in this game and have currently reached level 7. This record is assumed as all displayed passwords for the game on the internet do not actually work. They contain the correct numbers in each password, but are in the wrong order. Eg. Password for level 4 is stated as 111592, but is actually wrong. Se n Sacco are also the current record-holders in achieving over 1 million points in the one-playthrough. This was achieved during Earth-hour when in reality, all electricity should have been turned off.

During level 8 Mohawk and Headphone Jack meets up with his wife Mohawk and Headphone Jackie. She is being trapped by the evil Dolneck (One of the four leaders of the CDs). Once completing this level Mohawk and Headphone Jackie will be unlocked and you will have access to play with her.

Throughout levels 9 and 10 Mohawk and Headphone Jack and Jackie fight together to destory the remaining leaders of the CDs. However, in level 11 Mohawk Jackie sacrifices herself in order to save Mohawk Jack from ScissorX (second leader of the CDs) to receive one of the three Golden CDs which enable super-human strength these are: Golden CD of Mars (level 11 after the defeat of ScissorX) Golden CD of Mercury (level 12 after the defeat of Gemini) Golden CD of Jupitar (level 13 after the defeat of Zerald)
