Mohar Singh Rathore (5 January 1926 – 22 June 1985) was a social reformer & political Congress worker. Born at a small village Lakhau, 15 km east of Churu (चूरु) in a Rajput family & yet a teetotaler himself & preached the same to the society. Believer of Arya Samaji's way of life & a follower of Acharya Vinoba Bhave's Bhoodan movement (land donation movement) - he donated hundreds of acres of his jagir land to landless and inspired many others to follow the suit. His father Thakur of village Lakhau Moti Singh Rathore died while young Mohar Singh was still graduating. At this hour of sorrow and grief Mother Bhur Kanwar, a pious lady, was a great inspiration for him. He advocated for social reforms like Discouraging Purdah, Dowry, Child Marriage & Untouchability.

Primarily at native village Lakhau under the guidance of grand father Thakur Mohabat Singh ji, Mother Smt. Bhur kanwar and the first teacher Master Seduram ji of Village Gangiasar from 1929 to 1933. There never used to be schools in the villages at that time. Later during 1933 -- 1935 went to Village Alsisar about 25 km away at J K High School where the Principal Shri Kailashpati Singh from Bihar Province was a strict and disciplined teacher who influenced young Mohar Singh a lot. In 1935 he joined Birla High School, Pilani where he was greatly influenced by secular education. But next year he was sent along with his elder Brother Mohan Singh to Bikaner at Walter Noble High School where most of the boys of the than Thakurs used to study. Here Mohar Singh studied until 1942 and passed High School Examination with First Division. Again he took admission in at Pilani for graduation and passed Inter Science with First Division from Birla Engineering Collage, Pilani. In 1946 his Grand Father died so his regular studies were disturbed. But he passed BA (Hons) as a non collegiate student and than L.L.B. from Jaipur and thus Mohar Singh who aspired to become an Engineer became an Advocate by destiny.

He was Married to Smt. Pan Kanwar Bhati from Village: Randhawa, District Sirsa, Haryana and has five sons and two daughters. Had eight brothers and two sisters. His eldest son Jai Singh Rathore is General Secretary, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, since 1999.
