Mohammadpur (Bengali: মোহাম্মদপুর) is a Thana of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Mohammadpur is located at 23.7542° N 90.3625° E . It has 57551 units of house hold and total area 11.65 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census[1], Mohammadpur has a population of 316203. Males constitute are 55.02% of the population, and females 44.98%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 185413. Mohammadpur has an average literacy rate of 56.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. [2]

[edit] A Small Prototype of Dhaka City

MohammadPur is a small prototype of Dhaka city. Everything is available here and the communication system is very good. It is smoothly connected to both Sadar Ghath and Gabtali by the City Protection Dam. Here population is not so highly densed like other parts of Dhaka. One of the large markets of Bangladesh "The Krishi Market" is here. Many hospitals, clinics, educational institutions, shopping complex, wholesale markets, housing societies etc. are here.

The famous "Residential Model College" is here. St. Joseph School and College is here also. Except those, there are some other famous colleges and schools in MohammadaPur.

The Jeneva Camp for "Bihari" (Origin: Pakistan) is in MohammadPur. The Kabab of Bihari Camp is very famous.

"Asad Gate" is the symbol of the Great Boys of the country who has contributed themselves for the country. It is in MohammadPur. There is also an Avenue called "Asad Avenue" here.
