Mohammad Farhad

Mohammad Farhad ( July 05, 1938 - Oct 9, 1987) popularly known as "Comrade Farhad" was one of the architects of the independence of Bangladesh and the former President of Bangladesh Communist Party and a member of Bangladesh Parliament.

Mohammad Farhad was born in Khetripara of Dinajpur district which is now in Bangladesh. He finished his matriculation from Dinajpur Jila School in 1953 and received his masters degree in Political Science from Dhaka University in 1961.

On October 8th 1987, while visiting in Moscow, Russia as a delegate from Bangladesh Parliament, Mohammad Farhad died at 49. He left behind his wife and two children. Moni Singh-Farhad Memorial Trust, which was established to keep his legacy alive now serves as a popular center of intellectuals and free thinkers in Bangladesh.
