Mohammad Esmaili محمد اسمائیلی was born 1934 in Tehran,and he grew up in the talented family such as his uncles(Morteza Goreenzadeh and Musttappha Goreenzadeh, trumpet and clarinet players).From an early age, Mohammad was impressed by the Father of Modern Tonbak, Maestro Hossein Tehrani,which attracted him to this field as tonback player. Therefore, by his own enthusiasm, encouragement and guidance of his uncles he started his apprenticeship with one of the most influential master of tombak Hossein Tehrani.

Mohammad Esmaili was Tonbak accompanist in some of the music ensembles of the time and later joined the Tonbak players ensemble of the General Bureau of the Fine Arts of Iran, which was organized and formed by Maestro Hossein Tehrani. Mohammad Esmaili joined the National High School of Music in 1964 as a Tonbak instructor to give lesson to the students, later he was appointed as director of the Tonbak department. He trained and taught numerous students the Amozesh Tonbak- آموزش تنبك(Tonbak Rudiment)exercises Book written by Maestro Hossein Tehrani. In 1966,he was promoted as director to the Tombak department of the Ministry of Culture & Art till the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979.
[edit] Composer of Tonbak Pieces
Mohammad Esmaili has composed various Tobak pieces derived from the Iranian music melodies and he has performed these pieces in several events in the Talar Vahdat ,which formerly was Roudaki Hall at Tehran. Mohammad is loyal to his teacher Maestro Hossein Tehrani , therefore, he composed a Tonbak piece called Tribute to the Maestro , then it was performed by his Tonbak players ensemble accompanied with the other Iranian Classical Instruments as a recital in the memory of Father of Tonbak Maestro Hossein Tehrani. The accompany melody of this piece was written and arranged by the distinguished Maerstro Faramarz Payvar.
