Mohamad Noah bin Omar

Tan Sri Haji Mohammad Noah bin Omar (1898–1991) was a Malaysian politician. He originally served as the Minister of Home Affairs, and later became the first Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of Parliament between 1959 and 1964. Subsequently, he was speaker of the Dewan Negara, the upper house of Parliament, from 1968 to 1970.
Tan Sri Noah was born in Muar, Johor in 1898. He was a Malayan civil servant under the British administration and a founder member of UMNO in 1946. He attended the Syrian Protestant College in Beirut, Lebanon.
Tan Sri Noah was father to Tun Rahah, the widow of Tun Abdul Razak, who was Prime Minister from 1970 to 1976. Another daughter, Tun Suhaila, is the widow of Tun Hussein Onn, who was Prime Minister from 1976 to 1981. His grandsons Najib Abdul Razak is now the Deputy Prime Minister, while Hishamuddin Hussein is the current Education Minister.
