[edit] Early life

He joined the Saudi League club Al-Nasr at an early age and remained with that team all his playing career. He immediately showed the skills of a promising striker. His quick improvement while playing for the under-16 squad convinced the team officials to promote him to the under-20 and then quickly to the first team. In one period, he played for all three.[citation needed]

He became a well-known name with Al-Nasr club fans but not on the national level.[citation needed]

[edit] The 17 year old wonder

His breakthrough came in 1984 when he was selected to the national team trying to qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics. At only 17 years old he was the youngest Saudi at the time to play an international match.[citation needed]

He was the happy surprise of the tournament, playing like a world class professional and scoring 5 goals in just 4 matches, all played in Singapore. There were no signs of youthful inexperience as he formed a killer duo with his teammate and all-time Saudi great Majed Abdullah to lead the team to the top spot and qualifying for the Olympics.[citation needed]

The 5-4 victory over South Korea in the final match will always remain in the memory of Saudi football fans.[citation needed]

Mohaisen was loved by the Saudi and Asian fans alike, and the Asian media nicknamed him "The Cobra" due to his elastic moves and dribbling style.[citation needed]

[edit] With the national team

Playing in the Olympics, the Saudis showed the inexperience of a team playing for the first time outside Asia but Mohaisen followed the great performances of the Olympics qualification tournament with another one, again in Singapore.[citation needed] In December of 1984, the national team was playing in the Asian Nations Cup held in Singapore, and Mohaisen proved that he was not a one time wonder. He was a starter in all of the matches and played a major role in his country's winning the cup. He scored a spectacular goal against Kuwait that took his team to the semi-final.[citation needed]Mohaisen had his greatest performances and scored his most memorable goals during that year.[citation needed]

Two years later, the Saudis failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup finals, but made up for it by winning the Asian cup for a second consecutive time in 1988. This time, Mohaisen was the experienced player used strategically by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira as a starter or a replacement from game to game.[citation needed]

[edit] The exhaustion

After the instant success of 1984, and instead of giving him time to develop and enhance in a steady way, the national team and Al-Nasr coaches overused him. He played for the Saudi first team, the Saudi Under-20 team, Al-Nasr first and Under-20 teams, all at the same time.[citation needed]In four years he played what any other player would have in a career.[citation needed]

After 1998, he was out of the national team most of the time. He rejoined them during the qualifying rounds of the 1994 World Cup (in which the Saudis qualified) but that was his last appearance with the Saudi national squad and he did not play in any World Cup matches.[citation needed]

[edit] With Al-Nasr

Mohaisen had a presence in all of the achievements Al-Nasr club made during the 1980s and 1990s.[citation needed]Due to the overwhelming presence of teammate Majed Abdullah, Mohaisen played the double role of scorer and playmaker.[citation needed]

With Al-Nasr he would win the league title three times (1989, 1994, 1995) the King's cup three times (1986, 1987, 1990), Gulf champions league twice (1996, 1997), Saudi Arabia Football Federation cup (1998), Asian Cup Winners Cup (1998) and Asia's Super cup (1999).[citation needed]

In 2000 winning Asia's super cup entitled Al-Nasr to play in the inaugural 2000 FIFA Club World Championship held in Brazil. Mohaisen played in all three matches, against Real Madrid of Spain (lost 1-3), Corinthians of Brazil (lost 0-2) and Raja of Morocco (won 4-3).[citation needed]

Mohaisen retired from play soon after that tournament and iscurrently working as Al-Nasr's team administrative manager.[citation needed]
