[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] WikiProject New York City

Hello, I've started WikiProject New York City, and from your edits it seems you might be interested. See its talk page for the beginning of a discussion on the standardization of neighborhood names, and bringing New York City up to featured status.--Pharos 13:50, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Grand Central Depot

How sure are you of October for the opening? I have a New York Times article from November 1 that says "The trains of the New-York Central and Hudson River Railroads will commence running to and from the Grand Central Depot, corner of Fourth-avenue and Forty-second-street, this morning." --SPUI (talk) 02:08, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Also, can you take a look at New York and Harlem Railroad to make sure I'm not missing anything important? Thanks. --SPUI (talk) 02:09, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Never mind, I found another from September 29 saying that the Harlem Railroad would begin using the station on October 9. Will fix. --SPUI (talk) 02:15, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Seems like Harlem Railroad was first. That's what Middleton's, "Grand Central the World's Greatest Railway Terminal" also says. Great contributions btw! RustyCale 02:32, 7 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] More schools on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion

As of March 25, 2005, there are an additional (6) articles listed for deletion under the POV notion that schools are non-notable (even though this is invalid reasoning as per the Wikipedia deletion policy). Please be aware that the following schools are actively being discussed and voted upon:

In response to this cyclical ordeal, a Schoolwatch programme has been initiated in order to indentify school-related articles which may need improvement and to help foster and encourage continued organic growth. Your comments are welcome and I thank you again for your time. --GRider\talk

[edit] lots of edits, not an admin

Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 13:37, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

thanks, but I'm not interested RustyCale 13:21, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Interested in an L.A.-area Wiki meetup?

It appears as though L.A. has never had a Wiki meetup. Would you be interested in attending such an event? If so, checkout User:Eric Shalov/Wikimeetup.

[edit] Exploits Valley (Botwood) Airport

I've removed the not verifed tag. All the information is from the current Canadian Flight Supplement. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 20:54, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Alright. Why not cite the source in the article then? It would help readers like me :-) RustyCale 21:06, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Because there are 1429 seperate Canadian airport articles and I didn't think about when I started, 1300 articles ago,. At this point I HATE airports. As I work through them again though I'll try and add it in. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:20, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Why did you delete the tag if you don't care to fix the problem? I think you should put the tag back, it helps contributors concerned about missing references. RustyCale 22:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
There are about 1300 other Canadaian airport articles that are all the same as Exploits Valley (Botwood) Airport, see Category:Airports in Canada. Most of them need other work and as I go through them I'll add the reference. Part of the problem is I have lost just over 1/2 the data that is in the info box. It's either got to be typed in again or copied out from the articles. I don't feel like spending the next few days just making a single edit to each one quoting references, no more than you would want to add the "not verifed" tag to each airport. I would rather make the updates/corrections and add the reference at the same time. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 22:19, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please check your WP:NA entry

Greetings, editor! Your name appears on Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts. If you have not done so lately, please take a look at that page and check your listing to be sure that following the particulars are correct:

 1. If you are an admin, please remove your name from the list.
 2. If you are currently interested in being considered for adminship, please be sure your name is in bold; if you are opposed to being considered for adminship, please cross out your name (but do not delete it, as it will automatically be re-added in the next page update).
 3. Please check to see if you are in the right category for classification by number of edits.

Thank you, and have a wiki wiki day! BD2412 T 03:39, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Grand-cent.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Grand-cent.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
