Modjeska Youth Theater Company

The Modjeska Youth Theater Company is a nonprofit theater company based out of the Modjeska Theater on 12th and Mitchell in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The theater puts on shows that are performed and crewed solely by students. The program serves also as an outreach and afterschool program for inner city kids.

The Modjeska Youth Theater Company puts on four shows in a normal season. They are most often musicals with a large cast so that they can get as many young people involved as possible. A typical show runs for two weekends plus the company puts on shows during the week so that schools can come in and experience the theater.

The shows they have done include: The Wizard of Oz, Starmites, Peter Pan, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Annie, Anything Goes, The Wiz, The Sound of Music, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Seussical the Musical, Fame, Aida, Beauty and the Beast, CATS, Grease, Dreamgirls, The Me Nobody Knows, High School Musical, A Chorus Line and most recently Oliver! The youth company's fourth show in May, 2008 will be Once on this Island.

The 2008-2009 season will be announced soon.

It is commonly thought that the Modjeska Theater is haunted. Many previous owners and veteran cast and crew members have a multitude of stories of the supposed haunted nature of the theater. [1]
