[edit] History

ModiLuft was one of India's first post-deregulation airlines, launched in 1994 by the Indian industrial group Modi in partnership with the German flag carrier Lufthansa. It used Boeing 737-200 supplied by Lufthansa. ModiLuft did not last very long specially because the business mentality of the German and Indian partners were not the same and problems arose. Then the cooperation was broken off and ModiLuft acquired Boeing 737-400 aircraft to replace the 737-200s from Lufthansa, but the future of ModiLuft was already sealed and the airline ceased operations in 1996, and was revived in 2005 as SpiceJet following the low cost model.
