[edit] History

Modern Telegraph originated as a custom Operations Support Systems (OSS) software development consultancy writing and deploying software for conferencing as well as online ordering systems. The consultancy was one of the first companies to develop online provisioning tools for PBX vendors and integrators based on overall call capacity, independent of telephone numbers. The company evolved as a network aggregator to service the growing needs of its existing customer base.

The name Modern Telegraph was inspired by the words of Alexander Graham Bell in reference to Joseph Henry and the invention of the telephone from Henry’s work with the telegraph. Alexander Graham Bell's quote follows: "But for Joseph Henry, I would never have gone ahead with the telephone."

[edit] Network

The company is aligned with key Tier 1 providers in the industry. Having such alliances, the company easily supports commercially restrictive services such as MPLS, data via satellite and E911 services. Modern Telegraph's network services extends to Canada and the Caribbean.

[edit] Regulatory

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has mandated that all Voice over IP (VoIP) providers offer 911 service to their end customers. A core business concern of VoIP providers is the need to aggregate services across multiple DID providers. This has caused compliance challenges with VoIP providers with respect to the FCC mandate regarding E911 compliance as multiple providers introduces multiple processes. The system provides FCC and NENA compliance and covers the United States and Canada as well as aggregates across mutltiple vendors. This is currently the only service that provides vendor aggregation.

[edit] Legal structure and management

Modern Telegraph's legal structure is that of a limited liability company, registered in the State of Georgia, USA. Managing members use the term "Principal" to reflect the flat nature of the organization. Company filings can be found through inquiry with the Georgia Secretary of State.
