Modelia granosa is a medium to large species of sea snail which has a shell with a pearly interior and a calcareous operculum. It is a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Turbinidae, the turban snails.

This species is endemic to New Zealand, including the Chatham Islands.

This snail lives at depths of between low water and 20 m.
[edit] Shell description
The shell is large, with rounded whorls and a moderately tall spire. Sculpture is of numerous closely-spaced granose spirals. The umbilical area is concave but completely filled with callus.
The shell coloration is pinkish, axially streaked or zigzag patterned in reddish-brown. The umbilical callus is white, often externally bordered with bright pink. The interior of the aperture is iridescent, and the operculum is dull white.
The shell height is up to 68 mm, and width up to 71 mm.
