Close Combat: Modern Tactics is the second attempt to make a commercial version of Close Combat: Marines. The first attempt culminated in the game The Road to Baghdad, which failed to gain the interest of the Close Combat fan base. Most fans opting instead to try and get a copy of Close Combat: Marines.
The inability of most fans to get a copy of Close Combat: Marines and the failure of The Road to Baghdad, led the Genre open to another contender.
As the title hints, the game is focused on modern combat tactics. It will be the first commercial version of Close Combat to take place outside of the WWII timeframe, The Road to Baghdad not officially being part of the Close Combat series. The scenarios are based on real-world and hypothetical conflicts.
