Talk:Mobile RFID

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A beginning for this topic. I was a little surprised that there was no information available on Mobile RFID.

[edit] Some ideas

I can come back to this article in a week, but for now, here are a few ideas for anyone who wants to work on this article:

  1. See the "See also" sections from Mesh networking, Zigbee and of course RFID. As time goes by, some standards will win and some will lose, and it will become clearer which articles need more space and which need less.
  2. Browsing "mobile RFID" at news.google.com (archives) suggests that the term "mobile RFID" tends to mean "RFID readers that are mobile". For instance, see http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=204203995 and http://www.mmh.com/article/CA6532505.html.
  3. Don't say "this completely new approach", because it won't be new two years from now, it will be old. Instead, say when the first hand-held RFID readers and the first networked RFID readers were sold.
  4. The two links that show up in the references section may be helpful, but the first is a paper written by an intern that comes with a disclaimer, and I can't read the second. How can we establish whether "mobile RFID" means anything either to technologists or to the general public, and if so, what does it mean?
