Moana was a documentary film released in 1926 about the life in the south seas. Considering that this suburb was named by a real estate development company in 1927, I'll bet a dollar that the film served as inspiration for the name of the suburb

Moana aparently means "blue sea"

Hi, the map co-ords for moana via the external link at the bottom of the page are incorrect, they currently point slap-bang on the Stanvac oil refinery some 10km away. Proper co-ords and placement: http://www.google.com.au/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=-35.193858,138.469325&spn=0.003305,0.007167&t=h&z=18 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.101.101.219 (talk) 11:15, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I've fixed the map coordinates pete (talk) 02:14, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
