[edit] Home Ground
The home ground of Mo I.L. is Moheia Kunstgress, nicknamed "Fort Moheia" by fans of the club and the media. The reason behind this nickname is none other than the fact that almost no teams leave Moheia Kunstgress with more than one point. The home form of Mo I.L. have been stunning over recent years.
[edit] Early Years and Notable Performances
[edit] 2005 Season
A stunning home form almost led a high-flying Mo I.L. to promotion in the 2005 season. But a horrendous form in the last matches ruined Mo I.L.'s chances for promotion after having been leading the series for almost the entire season. Some of the Mo I.L. fans still blame the faulty penalty given to Tromsdalen in the Mo I.L. - Tromsdalen match, one of the very last matches of the season, for being what cost Mo I.L. the promotion. With the victory, Mo I.L. would still have had a decent chance at promotion come the end of the season, but as Tromsdalen scored on the penalty, the game ended 1-1 and the chances for a promotion to the Norwegian First Division was lost.
One of the most memorable moments from this season was the 0-2 loss against Tromsø I.L. in the third round of the Norwegian cup. Even though Mo I.L. lost the match and got knocked out of the cup as early as the third round. It is to be known that Mo I.L. was way better than the Tippeligaen side Tromsø I.L. throughout the match, and the audience also made this match one of the most memorable moments for Mo I.L. in recent years, showing up by the thousands to support the their club against the high flying Tromsø I.L. which was fielding one of the most promising Norwegian players at the time, Morten Gamst Pedersen in their starting eleven.
[edit] 2006 Season
After a media-hype around Mo I.L.'s chances for promotion not seen in Mo i Rana for many many years, Mo I.L. got off to a horrendous start of the season, going through the eight first matches without one single victory, media was speculating on whether or not the current manager Thor André Olsen had to get the sack. But in an amazing turn of events, and a high contrast to last years miserable autumn form, the 2006 autumn form took Mo I.L. from the very bottom of the table to a worthy 5th place at the end of the season.
[edit] 2007 Season
The 2007 pre-season have been a rollercoaster, going from one amazing performance in one match, to a miserable performance in another. Yet, optimism around Mo I.L. and their chances have almost never been higher. Though the hype around the club haven't been near the one before the 2006 season.
Media pundits are also speculating in that this season might be the magical one for the club from the small northern Norwegian town.
The season will start at Moheia Kunstgress with Mo I.L. facing off against Tromsø 2 on Monday the 16th of April.
[edit] The Future
Plans for a new home ground for both the two major Mo i Rana football teams that will meet the requirments for the Norwegian First Division have been announced by city officials. But thus far nothing more have come out of it than rumours.
