[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Halo3boxart2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Halo3boxart2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The second paragraph of this doesn't apply because you already tagged the image (but the text above is from an automated message). So in order to keep the image you must

  1. Provide the source of the image; a link to where you found it and say who owns it (I assume it's either Microsoft or Bungie)
  2. Provide a rationale; a reason why Wikipedia should be allowed to use the copyrighted image. Something like "it is the cover of Halo 3 and is intended to illustrate the article for that video game" would suffice

Bear in mind that seeing as it is a fair use image it will be deleted in 48 hours, not 7 days. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks, James086Talk | Email 14:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Cod 4.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Cod 4.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Salavat 15:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Incivility to another editor

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. [edit] Re: Wtf did you delete my pictures for?

First of all, please be a little nicer. Cursing isn't usually the best way to get what you want in life. That said, did you take those pictures yourself? east.718 at 01:02, April 2, 2008

That's cool... but we have one more minor problem. The reason why I deleted the images was because you obtained the image for Wikipedia's permission only - as Wikipedia is a free project, all media must be licensed for use without any restrictions. This sucks, but it's been the way things have been run around here for almost four years now. Could you please get back at John via email and ask him to license the image under a free dedication such as the GFDL, CC-BY-SA, or "usage permitted for any purpose" - then forward that email to me at east718 at gmail dot com? If so, I can help you out with the rest of this. east.718 at 02:36, April 2, 2008
Yeah, just get him to say two things: 1/ "I hold the copyright to these photos" and 2/ "I am releasing them under..." (pick one of the three things I mentioned above). Then, forward the email to me. It's that simple! east.718 at 02:45, April 2, 2008
Wow, that was fast. :O I'm restoring the images as we speak. Great job securing this content! east.718 at 02:58, April 2, 2008

[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Image:Signature_icon.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 02:57, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
