If you're looking for me, I no longer use this username due to a technical problem. I now have the username MK2.
You won't find any autobiographical information here.
I have no specific areas of expertise. The subjects of the entries I've worked on are usually history or pop culture.
My typical practice here is to wander about and occasionally be inspired to fill in some page that's either empty or a stub. I also often tweak spelling and grammatical errors. I also try to do my share of "janitorial" work such as fixing links.
Due to a cavalier attitude, I often work under anonymous names because I neglected to log in. If you see work by someone whose name starts with 170.215 it's probably me.
For the most part, none of the articles I've worked on has needed any serious revision; either I'm doing something right or nobody's paying attention.
Here's a list of some articles I've worked on:
- Trisha Meili - First entry I worked on. Revised it from a stub.
- Attica Prison riots - Added the list of employees who were killed.
- Ginger Lynn - There was an empty entry listed under Ginger Lynn Allen. I wrote an entry and then someone combined it with the existing entry on Ginger Lynn which I hadn't known about. I then edited the information from the entries into a coherent whole.
- Survivor (television series) - I'm a fan of the show. The main entry existed before I arrived, but I extensively revised it and added entries on the international versions Australian Survivor and Survivor (UK version) (which I later revised and combined with a duplicate article). I also did an extensive revision on the Jerri Manthey article.
- The Pussycat Dolls and Dave Navarro - The former was an empty entry, which led to a link to Carmen Electra, which led to the stub of the latter.
- S. M. Stirling - A favorite author with an empty entry. This article was later absorbed into S.M. Stirling.
- Horatio Gates - My first attempt to prove I can compose entries about subjects not found in the tabloid press. There was an entry which consisted solely of a picture of Gates. I added the text.
- Rachael Leigh Cook - It was her birthday and she had an empty entry. Plus she's a babe.
- Dick Clark - Empty entry with several links to it.
- Carl Spaatz and Lyman Lemnitzer - Historical subjects with empty entries.
- List of multiracial people - Added a lot of information to the list. The exception to my claim above about not getting a lot of revision requests. Controversial subject.
- New York, New York - Did an extensive revision on the "Crimes, disasters, and assassinations" section, which was later moved to Timeline of New York City disasters, and wrote related entries on the General Slocum and Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.
- Waterbury, Vermont - A geographical entry for a change of pace.
- Béatrice Dalle, Charlie Daniels, Daveigh Chase, The Early Show, The Frisco Kid, A Fish Called Wanda, Laura San Giacomo, Melanie Griffith, Ornella Muti, Tom Berenger - Entertainment entries I expanded from stubs.
- Alan West, Atlanta Child Murders, Barbary pirates, Battle of Washita River, Betty Davis, Durum, Genus Helix, Harold Russell, Ibrahim Petrovich Gannibal, John Gardner (creator of Boysie Oakes), John Neumann, John Surratt, Madden NFL, Marv Newland, Melvin R. Laird, Riot control, Thandie Newton, William Smith (actor) - Some entries that were originated by others but I did some revisions and/or wikkification on.
- Maxim (magazine), Penthouse magazine - Revised and added some additional information in these entries.
- Scooby-Doo - Added mention of the movie.
- Joe Haldeman - Revised the list of books.
- Jerry Lee Lewis - Added some stuff about his shooting incidents.
- Pink (musician) - Combined it with another entry on the same person.
- Ironing - Added a mention of extreme ironing.
- Lester Bangs - Added a mention of the Sterling story.
- Carl Richard Jacobi - Wrote this as part of the World Fantasy Awards revisions I was doing.
- Ben-Hur - Added the mention of the book's success.
- Super Bowl XXXVIII - I don't usually work on current events, but I added some information about this game, including the initial information about the halftime controversry which was later moved to Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime controversy.
- Richard Lawrence and Fanya Kaplan - Original entries.
- Matt Groening - Added some information about his family.
- Michael the Archangel - Added the information about the movie.
- Toni Braxton - An empty entry from the Most Wanted Articles page, so I wrote one.
- The Chanukah Song - I was surprised nobody had already done this.
- Engblom v. Carey - An attempt at a article on a more substantial topic. Which led me to write Hugh L. Carey.
- Stockard Channing - One of only four Oscar nominated actresses with no page (and the other three are relative unknowns).
- Charles F. Adams class - Another article from high on the Most Wanted list. Also expanded the USS Hoel (DDG-13) article.
- List of porn stars who appeared in mainstream films - Added most of the names on the list and saved it from deletion. Also led me to write an article on Police Academy.
- James Bond - Added the information about the Gardner and Benson books and the parodies.
- Fluxx - I like the game.
- Kirby Awards, Eisner Awards, Harvey Awards - Did the three main articles, which led to others: Astro City, Dale Messick, Kurt Busiek, Milton Caniff, Nexus (comic book), Wally Wood
- Blackford Oakes - I was surprised by how little information was available online about this character.
- Exploding sheep - one of stranger articles I've contributed to.
- Jenny McCarthy - Surprised she didn't have an article already.
- Jack Warden - He'd been hanging around the middle of the "most wanted" list for months.
- Alice (television) - I didn't like the show much but there were numerous links to it.
- Robert Guillaume - Another show biz article. I don't remember what inspired me to write this one.
- Jenny Agutter - The existing article only covered her career as a child actress. I expanded it to cover the 35 years since then.
- Lingerie Football League - Came up in Clean up.
- Longarm - 300 books deserved some kind of recognition.
- Winston Churchill (novelist) - An article on a forgotten author.
- Chet Huntley - Another one off the Most Wanted list.
- Rosario Dawson - I think I'm getting in a pop culture rut.
- William Russell - I decided to knock another article off the Most Wanted list. Turns out there are thirteen different William Russells. So I created a disambiguation page and I'll work on individual articles.
- Tourism in Argentina - The existing article was being considered for deletion. I expanded it and saved it.
- Earth (novel) - The original article came up in Cleanup and VfD. I revised it.
- Playmate - I added the PMOY list.
- Characters on West Wing - I originally called it "West Wing (characters)" - A title I still prefer, except it should have been "The West Wing".
- Stanford Prison Experiment - I added a counter-argument. Apparently others disagreed; my comments were gradually revised into oblivion.
- Kobe Tai - Added some information that didn't come out of a press kit.
- Forever Knight - Expanded the article from a stub and episode list.
- Added and revised the lists of FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World for 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. These led to creating articles on Angie Everhart, Caprice Bourret, Eva Mendes, Greta Scacchi, Jaime Pressly, Kelly Hu, Leeann Tweeden, Natalie Appleton, Nicole Appleton, and Rebecca Gayheart. Created Category:FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World. Later led to an annoying debate.
- Great American Desert - Revised and expanded.
- National Lampoon's Last Resort - A red link that made the two year list.
- Bill Pickett - Wrote an article about him. No particular reason except I saw an article about him in a book.
- Eddie Albert, Bobcat Goldthwait, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Rich Little, Paula Poundstone, Jaclyn Smith, and Patric Zimmerman - Celebrity bios from the Requested Articles list.
- Non-standard poker hand - A red link. If it had been my choice, I'd have called it Non-standard poker hands. Only article I've ever written which got linked to the main page.
- List of New York counties - Worked on the origins of the county names. Led to "The Twelve Original Counties" section in the Province of New York article and new articles on Adirondack County, New York and Peconic County, New York.
- I revised the article about the historical Count Saint-Germain and wrote an article about the fictional Count Saint-Germain (vampire).
- States List Puzzle - I remembered this puzzle and unsuccessfully looked online for a solution.
- Wrote an article for Archie Goodwin (comic book writer) and disambiguated the references to Archie Goodwin (fictional detective).
- Revised the Forrest Carter article to acknowlege his white supremist history.
- Lord Ramage, The Lost Regiment, and Richard Bolitho were inspired by the series of books category.
- Hannah Spearritt - A passing reference inspired me to start an article. But subsequent research produced surprisingly little information. The result was a short stub of an article.
- Sealab 2020 - Expanded the article from a stub.
- Janine Lindemulder - It's always a challenge digging up factual information about adult film performers.
- McHale's Navy - Saw in the Ernest Borgnine article that there was no entry for this series.
- Trygve Lie - Expanded the article.
- Charles Howard, 1st Earl of Nottingham - Expanded the article to cover beyond his command against the Armada.
- Archibald Percival Wavell, 1st Earl Wavell - Another expansion. I'm reading a book on British military leaders.
- Vanity (performer) and Vanity 6 - Revised and wikified these two articles.
- Henry S. Rawlinson - Another British general expansion.
- Elizabeth Packard - Maybe I'll work on some legal subjects.
- Did an expansion on the 87th Precinct series and added an article on Isola (fictional city).
- A. J. Quinnell - While the author's real name and picture can be found online with enough effort, I decided to honor his request to keep his identity secret.
- Eddie Slovik - Wrote the middle section to give the details about his desertion.
- Category:SS - Created this category while looking up some articles on WWII.
- Ambassadors from the United States, List of 'years in science', Timeline of the Second World War, World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, Category:Suicides, Category:Pulitzer Prize winners - Compilation work, more or less. Unfortunately, I often move on before completing this type of thing.
- Accept, Alceo Dossena, Benjamin Paul Blood, Communes in Switzerland, Enrico Gatti, Guy Ducornet, List of Pokémon by Stage, Portage Lake Lift Bridge - Articles on subjects I had no particular knowledge of or interest in, but wrote because they were at the top of a most requested list and nobody else was doing them. In some cases, I was able to fashion short but decent articles with a little online research; in other cases, the articles are little more than stubs.
- Some other entries I've contributed to in one way or another: Adrienne Barbeau, Aetius, Celebrity sex tape, Christy Canyon, George Carlin, Halle Berry, Jack Ryan (fictional character), Jack Ryan (Senate candidate), Leonidas I, The Monkees, Patrick McDonnell, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Recurring South Park characters, Shii Ann Huang, Spider Robinson, Steven Barnes, Thurgood Marshall, Tim Matheson, Vernor Vinge, Victoria Silvstedt.
- Did some checking in List of people by name, specifically K, I, and part of N, adding missing dates, descriptions, and correcting minor errors. Slow boring work.
