Michael J. Steinbaugh is a graduate student in the Cellular and Molecular Biology program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research currently focuses on the study of stress resistance and the mechanisms of aging in the murine model. In his free time he collects music, plays soccer, and roots for Michigan athletics.
Mike was born in Orange County not too far from Disneyland and lived there until he was 13. He then moved to Marin County, which is north of San Francisco. While living in Mill Valley, he attended Tamalpais High School, from which he graduated in 2001. Thus, he tends to agree with the left, enjoys shopping at Whole Foods, and practices Tai Chi. He drinks green tea instead of coffee, knows how to cook awesome stir-fry, and makes soy protein power smoothies in the morning.
In the Spring of 2005, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics and a minor in Spanish from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He lived in Los Angeles for four years, which was an enjoyable experience minus the traffic and the high cost of living. Mike still misses the sushi, bars, and night clubs.
