[edit] Biography

Miyu Nagase - Vocals & Guitar May 20, 1988 Hokkaido, Japan

As a young child, Miyu loved to sing. By the third grade, she had decided to take her singing abilities seriously; Miyu enrolled at Studio RunTime, a children’s school for the performing arts. In 1998, she was selected as one of the final four members to be in the pop band ZONE. Because ZONE was a creation of Studio RunTime and because Studio RunTime had deep ties with Sony Music Entertainment of Japan, the band was able to make a high-profile debut in 2000 at the “Sapporo Lilac Festival”.

Mr. Ominami Tadayuki, a representative of Sony Records, noticed that the crowd reaction to the debut concert was particularly enthusiastic. At this point, ZONE was strictly a dance group. Following his belief that ZONE had the makings of a hit, Mr. Ominami watched a LIVE video of the band playing with instruments at the "KomeKome Klub" and felt that, due to the overabundance of dance groups, ZONE had the makings of a true pop sensation IF they could play instruments as well as sing and dance.

With the release of their third single, secret base ~kimi ga kureta mono~, ZONE became a bona fide pop sensation in Japan. Miyu's guitar skills were rapidly improving and, by the time of their final single, Egao Biyori, ZONE fans had no doubt, whatsoever, that she could hold her own with her instrument (typically a Fender guitar), as well as with her already accomplished skills as a singer.

Miyu released two solo singles in December of 2004: Just 4 your Luv (2004.12.1) Snowy Love (2004.12.15) On February 23, 2005, she released Luv & love CLIPS ~from N.Y.~. This shows her makings of Just 4 Your Luv and Snowy Love in New York. Also, her sites around N.Y. including her singing Amazing grace.

ZONE disbanded on April 1st, 2005. They remain a beloved force in Japanese pop music, due to the high production values of their singles and the unabashed charm of its members.

Miyu also released a single with the Nagisa no All Stars in August of 2006: Taiyo no Take Off / Kimi wa Boku no Aozora.

On October 10th, 2007, Miyu released a fourth single: Key ~Yume Kara Samete~. This was her first release under a new label, CAM Entertainment. On November 21st, 2007, she released her first solo album: Gateway to Tomorrow.

On February 13th, 2008, she released her fifth single: Rose. On May 21th, 2008, she released her sixth single: Akane. this was the day after her birthday, May 20th. Also, one of the theme songs for Mama no Kami-sama.
