The campus will undergo a massive renovation in 2008 as part of the Gallup-McKinley County Schools district's plan to create Gallup's second high school. The district's plans also includes building a new middle school and expanding the 2 existing middle schools to move the 8th grade level back to the middle schools and moving the 9th level to the high schools starting in the 2008-2009 school year. Miyamura will serve 9th-10th grade students in 2008-09, 9th-11th in 2009-10 and 9th-12th in 2010-11 school years.
