Mixxx is open source digital DJ’ing software that allows an individual to mix music together using a personal computer, as a DJ would with a pair of physical turntables.
[edit] Overview
The project was started in early 2001 as one of the first digital DJ systems. Today Mixxx includes many features common to digital DJ solutions, but also some unique features: It's licensed under the GPL and runs on all major desktop operating systems. Furthermore Mixxx has a number of key features to help the DJ in the live mix: Beat estimation, parallel visual displays, and support for many DJ input controllers.
In early 2007, Mixxx 1.5.0 was released, bringing major new features including waveform summary displays and support for pitch independent time stretch.
[edit] Audio and Hardware Support
Mixxx supports ASIO and DirectSound on Windows, OSS, ALSA, and JACK on Linux, and CoreAudio on Mac OS X. Mixxx can also read most popular audio formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Wave, Aiff and FLAC. For external hardware control, Mixxx supports MIDI and standard input devices such as joysticks and mice.
