The first two albums of Yahel's career, For the People and Waves of Sound showed how capable he was in his own productions. With Mixing in Action Yahel assembled his first mix CD something he has been reluctant to do over the years. Yahel struggles with his label as a DJ because he is a producer, so this album is truly a statement to that effect in the sense that his hands can be seen lovingly wrapped around each track. Though they may not be his, they bear his indelible stamp. The first track, S is Here by Infected Mushroom possesses a sinister darkness that Yahel spends the rest of the album trying to shrug off. It is almost as though the next nine songs try to atone for the tone of the first. Truly in an inspired moment Yahel was able to look back at one of his creations and realize its potential. The deep mix of D.N.A. is an almost ambient reimagining of one of his most famous tracks. The added effects and melodies really help move the album along. Druckverteiler by S.B.K returns to the darkness of S is Here, and it thrashes along with a tinny headbanging charm. The Layback Mix of Purple and Lunar's Subtle Thrust is another inspired moment, taking an interesting track and bringing it new life and understanding. Yahel's own subtle additions and effects are masterfully edited to not over take the track too much. Valirus by Astrix and Atomic Pulse is a Full On track that Yahel takes great pains in tyring to dress down to blend with the album, although it is difficult given the high spirits and dark charm of the song. Sound and Melody is another high point where Yahel injects what he has learned over the course of his career to that point into a deep well balanced track that defies characterizing. Morphem's Hypnotone is a glimpse into the past, while keeping itself firmly rooted in the overall sound of the collection. Purple Unicorn by Deedrah has some old school sounds harkening back to the influence of Kraftwerk although the beat keeps it modern. The next track Private Taste is almost House Music its consistent beat and charged assault however distinguish it from being too commercial. Finally, Music by Maskalin finishes up with an S is Here darkness that can be creepy at times without being overwhelming.
