[edit] Programming

Since 2007 the station has been branded on air as '106.3', dropping the word 'MIX'. The station predominately targets a young female demographic, playing a mixture of Top 40, popular rock music, Dance and Hip Hop. Established in 1999 by Reg Grundy's 'RG Capital', the station was bought by Macquarie Bank in 2003 who also owned competing stations SEA, 4TO and HOT FM. The new owners moved MIX and SEA FM from their city studios (corner of Sturt and Stanley Streets) into their existing 4TO and HOT FM premises on Woolcock Street, The Lakes. The Federal Government forced Macquarie to sell two stations to ensure diversity of media outlets in the market and in 2005 MIX and SEA FM were sold to their current owner Prime, although they still operate out of the Woolcock Street studios. In 2008 several departments including traffic and accounts were relocated to Prime's Sunshine Coast office.
