Did You Know?
Updated DYK query On 24 January 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Transportation in Saskatchewan Did you know...that 250,000 kilometers (150,000 miles) of roads complement air, pipeline, hiking trail, and waterway travel to provide transportation in Saskatchewan?. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Looking forward toward more to contributions from you! Happy Editing

[edit] Hurricane Henri

I assessed Henri as start class. It could reach B with a little more organization, better wording, and there seems to be a typo. And BTW, as you said on Hurricanehink's user talk, you are having trouble with the IRC, don't worry, it doesn't work for me either which leads me to believe that it is the website, not your computer. :) Juliancolton (talk) 01:08, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Erie County routes

Just so you know, the Erie County route shield I based my template on was all in Helvetica, not FHWA Series D. I'll make some new versions with the right font; just give me the go-ahead on my talk page or IRC and I'll upload them for you.

The Helvetica clone I used was Nimbus Sans. Since this font is installed on the server that renders SVGs, you don't even have to convert to path before saving, and you don't have to have it on your computer. You can just change the number, save, and upload. I think Nimbus is free to download though, so you might want to look around for it. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 19:46, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Ah, okay. I checked and the Nimbus fonts do cost money. However, the font Swiss (which TPIR uses for the 2 for the Price of 1 digits) is probably close enough. —Scott5114 [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 20:05, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

You should place your page County Route 574 (Erie County, New York) or a link to it under List of county routes in Erie County, New York. It is a very good page to include to the list. Ngs61 (talk) 19:17, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Putnam County

Sure. If you're at the meetup tomorrow, and him too, I can certainly help. Let me know what you need. Daniel Case (talk) 08:17, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] FM 1905

I don't know... I look at that and see stub. There are some issues with WP:USSH and grammar, and the route description and history should be expanded. --NE2 23:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My first try at roads

I know, I know, I should focus on Putnam, but I wanted to give a road article a shot. Take a look, and tell me what I need to do when I write about roads. Juliancolton (talk) 16:56, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Wow, thanks for the barnstar! I didn't think I would ever be able to make such good contributions. Thanks again. Juliancolton (talk) 22:08, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CR 106

Updated. Let me know if it needs anything else. Also, if you or someone could make a shield for CR 69 and add it to the appropriate list. If former routes like CR 106A and CR 37 get blurbs that one should definitely too. It's probably the most notable former route. Thanks Mitch! -Airtuna08 (talk) 19:07, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

If you're gonna use one, I would use them all, as they are all part of former NY 306.It really expands and gives a good history of the NY 306 article, but if you want though, maybe you can put the stuff back on the main lists and just write up a quick blurb about 73, 75, 69, 118 on the NY 306 page. -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:06, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

And as far as CR 41 & CR 72, you may want to put those article on the main list as there really isn't much expansion possible. I will work on CR 33 & CR 80 this weekend. Both of those can be longer. -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:21, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

CR 64 to the main list as well. Not much expansion possible there either. -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:24, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Looks good Mitch. I ended up being swamped with stuff this weekend, but I'll get on those CR 33 and CR 80 articles shortly. Happy holiday! -Airtuna08 (talk) 16:40, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Sure... can you make a CR 69 shield for me? If you can't I'll ask TwinsMetsFan. -Airtuna08 (talk) 16:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Sweet! Thank you very much! Actually if you want and have the time. Can you make the shields for all the decommissioned routes? Don't worry about the A,B,C ones, I'll just mention them under their parent routes. So I think that only leaves 16, 22, 43, 62. I'll write the blurbs and site all that good stuff. Thanks man! -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:09, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

We can get rid of those decommissioned infoboxes too that just waste space when those blurbs go up. -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Nice! Thanks Mitch! Leave that list of things whenever. Gonna finish putting these comm boxes in then go nuts with 33 and 80! -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CR 33 & 80

Check them out. If you feel there's anything worthy of being added to them go for it. Also, yeah, we got off to a fun start with each other, haha. Glad we realized were both trying to accomplish the same things basically. As for CR 97, what was it you wanted to change with it? -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:56, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CR Lists

I'll see what I can dig up. Can't imagine there would be much more on the routes other than the maps and the two RC Route websites. We'll see though. What do you suggest? -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:26, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

That could be do able, let me think up some ideas a little later to see what I can come up with. If anything comes to mind for you, lemme know. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:36, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, some county maps have CR 80 looping around Rockland Lake. That would explain the extra 1.6 miles. But the pic you see on CR 80 is at the entrance to Rockland Lake. I should try E-mailing the county transportation people and find out what the deal is. CR 27 is another route that continues beyond its signed terminus. I'll get clarification on that so we can update CR 80 and CR 27. Right now though, I think the best source we have is the picture at CR 80's eastern terminus at 10.4 miles. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:43, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
The source you found really doesn't focus on CR 80. They give a rough estimate of CR 80's length. I think the google map distance is what we should go with since we try to have exact distances. Nice find though. Keep em coming, helps build the pages. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:54, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

OK, I'm sure things will keep changing. The sites will just have to evolve as such. Also, I added the RC legislative district #11 map. So if someone from the county emails me back verifying the extra section as CR 80 then we can update the distance with that map being our source. -Airtuna08 (talk) 22:13, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

CR 80 would be 12.9 miles long according to this google map. Updated CR 80 Map That source provided some good history it looks like. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Airtuna08 (talkcontribs) 22:17, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Figured that might fill out the page a little more. Make it more eye pleasing, but if its a problem with the WP current standard let me know or just ax the tables yourself. -Airtuna08 (talk) 05:27, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CR 23

Think we should give that its own page? It is 11-miles long. I think we can make an article similar to CR 33, 80 and 106. -Airtuna08 (talk) 02:49, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I liked the way you signed your name on my userpage, haha. -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:04, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

You know what, CR 23 is more of a rural route compared to CR 33, CR 80 and CR 106, so its okay the way it is. I was thinking more out loud. Nice additions to the main page too! -Airtuna08 (talk) 03:56, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sure

Looks like you've done some, ill do the 76-118A page. -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:05, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Will do. -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Wait, I'm having a dumb day. All the streets are spelled out. Was it something else you needed? I have to run out for awhile, but I'll be back tonight and fix what it is you need. Later Mitch!-Airtuna08 (talk) 17:17, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nice Map

For CR 76-118A. Only a couple points though. \CR 89 doesn't link up with CR 85, and CR 85 & CR 81 extend south of NY 59. CR 85 extends to the NJ border while CR 81 ends at CR 73. But other than that, thanks for the work, it looks really good! -Airtuna08 (talk) 20:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Roadgeek meetup

Where on Long Island is this meeting supposed to take place? On New York State Route 25A in Kings Park, there's a berm east of the Sunken Meadow State Parkway interchange that blocks that other Sunken Meadow State Park entrance and Parking Area #5. If you go anywhere near Hither Hills State Park, there's a sign on Old Montauk Highway indicating that the road used to be part of New York State Route 27A. There also might(the keyword being "might") be some lingering evidence of Frowein Road(Suffolk CR 98) being New York State Truck Route 27A, and the former multiplex of NY 24 & NY 113 over the Peconic River between the Riverhead Traffic Circle and NY 25. In Port Jefferson on West Broadway there was a sign tree approaching Main Street as NY 25A is about to turn south, and it includes NY 112. I've seen this there for 34 years, and it was the sign I mentioned in the NY 25A article that indicated evidence of a potential extension of NY 112. That's all I can think of right now. Let me know when you leave, in case I think of others. ----DanTD (talk) 22:24, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

You're right, I couldn't have come anyhow. This was because I'm stuck in Florida, and just came back from a New York & Long Island Vacation in late December 2007. ----DanTD (talk) 23:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox Maps

Mitch, buddy old pal. Did you make the infobox maps for NY 306 and 59? They look good. I have the quantum program on my computer. If you know how to use the program, can send me a little explanation on how to get started with it that would be great. I asked TwinsMetsFan a long time ago, but he never got back to me about it. So if you know, get back to me whenever. Thanks! I'd like to add maps to NY 45 and NY 304 too. -Airtuna08 (talk) 15:55, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

NY 304 & 45 look fairly similar to NY 306 and somehow thats GA and the other two are start. I don't see much difference. If you can wheel your power and get those two evaluated, that might get things rolling. -Airtuna08 (talk) 15:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Correction: NY 304 is already B class, so lets get that brother a map! NY 45 is still start class. I did fix the wording in the history a while back. I think it's worthy of becoming B as well. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:28, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the request for Middlesex County Routes 644, 646, and 648, could you find any other proof besides Google Maps that these roads exist? [edit] Niagara County Routes

I am just working on a little bit at a time for both Erie County Routes and Niagara County Routes. If you would like to add anything to either of these pages, feel free, the more contributions the better. Thank you,Ngs61 (talk) 16:13, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I am aware that the routes are not signed in Niagara County, it says that at the top of the page Niagara County Routes. Thanks.

By the way, for Erie County Route 45, don't you think it would be a good idea to keep the "Major Intersections" box, I feel that there should be one of those boxes for each primarily because these County Routes don't always entirely overlap or remain on the same lengths of roads as did the previous designations. (Route 356 is now various county routes). Thanks,Ngs61 (talk) 19:54, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

To be honest, I don't really deal with DYK that much; just occasionally when I have a bit of spare time. You're probably better asking BorgQueen or Gatoclass at the moment. Dan1980 (talk | stalk) 13:25, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Actually Mitch, I did check out your hook and I couldn't confirm it. In fact, I didn't really understand what the hook was about, I don't know anything about the US highway system. I'll take another look at it but I can't promise anything. Gatoclass (talk) 13:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I've taken another look and I still can't confirm the hook. Do you have a source for the statement that it was one of the shortest highways in Onondaga County? If you do, that would make for a straightforward hook and I could promote it with that. Gatoclass (talk) 13:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
All right, forget that, can you provide a source that its operation was turned over from New York State to Onondaga County in 1980? That would do for a hook. Gatoclass (talk) 13:53, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I think we'll have to forget it Mitch. I just checked the length of the article, it's less than the 1500 byte main body text requirement as well. Gatoclass (talk) 13:56, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
