U.S. Route 222 in the state of Pennsylvania consists of 90.85 miles in three counties. The route begins at the Maryland state line south of Wakefield. It runs through three major cities in Pennsylvania: Lancaster, Reading, and Allentown. Route 222 goes through three counties: Lancaster, Berks and Lehigh. 222 is mostly at-grade, however parts are built as an expressway.

Route 222 begins at the Maryland state line just south of Wakefield. Route 222 heads north, intersecting Pennsylvania Route 272 in Wakefield 6 miles later.[2] Route 272 becomes concurrent with Route 222 in Wakefield, until splitting at a fork in Wakefield.
