Mitchell High School, also known as Mitchell Road High School, is a public 9-12 school in Memphis, Tennessee, located at 658 W. Mitchell Road. Its enrollment of 1074 students is 99.4% Black, 0.4% White and 0.2% Hispanic. The school is secured by metal detectors and a posted police officer.

On February 11, 2008 at approximately 9:00 a.m., 17-year-old student Cornelius Cheers opened fire in the school cafeteria, critically wounding 19-year-old student Stacey Kiser. The school was locked down for the rest of the day and the perpetrator was arrested and taken into custody. The school was re-opened the following day.[2]
