Mitchell Claydon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mitchell Claydon (born November 25, 1982) is an Australian-born English cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. A pacy player, as well as a keen surfer, Claydon signed for Yorkshire in 2005.
Claydon's debut match came as a tailender batsman for a Yorkshire Second XI against a combined Kent and Middlesex XI. Though neither team were victorious, Claydon proved himself economical with the ball, and a more than welcome addition to the 2005 Second XI side. He later played for the team during a Bangladeshi tour of 2005, which saw a Bangladesh A them play against eight first-class counties from all around the country.
Claydon made his County Championship debut in April of the following year, though the match remained unfinished and the man himself remained actionless. He finally got his chance to shine in a County Championship game against Durham in which, batting at number ten, he shared a partnership of 80 with centurion Anthony McGrath. Claydon remained a strong force within the Yorkshire team during the early stages of the 2006 Second XI Championship.
Claydon holds a British passport. Following his release from Yorkshire in 2006, he signed for Durham in time for the beginning of the 2007 season. Claydon is nicknamed Lips, a testament to his full facial features. He was born in New South Wales.
