The Mitchell Family is a group of African American politicians and lawyers who have contributed to both the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland and the NAACP. Many members of the family were the trailblazers amongst Maryland's African Americans and the central courthouse of Baltimore City is named in honor of Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr., the head of the family and chief lobbyist for the NAACP for nearly 30 years.[1]
