The result of the debate was closed per WP:SNOW as the nom was unspecific, vague and did not list the actual categories that were up for debate (and this is the wrong place to suggest this as the nom is asking for a deletion of userboxes as well as their categories). Probably also made just to make a point. Veesicle (Talk) (Contribs) 01:57, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedians who support...
Per a discussion by Jimbo wales after the Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Pedophilia userbox wheel war Wikipedia is not a place to promote your POV and the userboxes/categories/templates that propmote these need to be deleted Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 17:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

- In an attempt to clarify I am talking about mainly politics and political groups. Sports teams and other nuteral groups would be excluded. I am talking about Wikipedians who support Hesbola and other such userbox/categories/templates ones that don't add encyclopedic vaule, and have a very high rate of POV issues/bad blood/conflict behind the meaning of the category/userbox/template. - Question I count 65 categories which start with that phrase. Is it your intent that all of them as well as their associated userbox templates be deleted? Some of them appear to be just sports-related, such as Category:Wikipedians who support Liverpool FC and {{User Liverpool FC}}. --After Midnight 0001 18:45, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Betacommand, this is a rather crude way of going about this. Would you mind closing it temporarily, doing a small bit of research, and then starting again? GracenotesT § 19:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- And I do have a bit of trouble with the assertion that having a userbox on your page is "promoting" a POV. Most of the people that have these userboxen/categories are contributors, and it sometimes helps encyclopedic collaboration to know where someone else is coming from. Knowing that they support pedophilia is a special case. We're going to have to take this case-by-case, or otherwise make a specific group nomination. GracenotesT § 19:24, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Close. Why are sports teams neutral and political groups POV? Preferences for either can lead to POV conflicts and edit wars. As long as the userboxes do not demean other groups, they help collaboration, and it is easier to gauge an editor's stance on things they feel strongly enough about to acquire a userbox with category. For especially heated issues there's bound to be conflict regardless of userboxes. –Pomte 23:49, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- There was just an issue over an admin deleteing {{user Hesbola}} such templates should not exist per Jimbo. they just can cause conflict like the arbcom case. Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 00:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- So you're starting an MFD to justify an action that resulted in an argument? Sounds a rather small bit pointy to me. I think, as I said before, that we can take this on a case-by-case basis. GracenotesT § 01:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
