[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Yes ads, Wikipedia:WikiProject No ads
For a while we had Wikipedia:WikiProject No ads, which was harmless enough as a statement of principle, but now we have WikiProject Yes ads, which means that instead of a single thing advocating no adverts, we have factionalism between two diametrically opposed "Wikiprojects", and advocacy for political campaigning by Wikipedians. Guy (Help!) 18:31, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both. Wikiprojects should be to deal with content, and usually article content. Never just to campaign for a certain position. May I create Wikipedia:WikiProject Stop Off-wiki Discussion? -Amark moo! 19:05, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Keep No Ads. Nothing has changed since the first MfD for it. --Gwern (contribs) 20:26 28 January 2007 (GMT)
- There aren't any ads, and aren't likely to be in the near future, which kinda is the reason the project was formed. -Amark moo! 20:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- So? Even if I argued that the reason that those two are true is because of Encyclopedia Libre and exactly this, that still has no bearing on whether it should be deleted. --Gwern (contribs) 20:44 28 January 2007 (GMT)

- Delete both per nom - no more divisive campaigning, please. Also per Amarkov: can someone explain to me how these help the encyclopedia that we are supposed to be writing in any way whatsoever? Moreschi Deletion! 20:54, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both. No encyclopedic value, no humour value, no good for the community, no actual influence over whether the Foundation brings in ads or not. -- Steel 20:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete Yes ads, as it never had any value and its creation was merely to prove a point during a discussion involving the Virgin Unite controversy. Tag as inactive or move No ads to Meta, as that's where it belongs (if it is to stay at all). --- RockMFR 21:03, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- As the creator of Yes Ads, I can definitively say that it had nothing to do with the Virgin Unite business - the text was based on this category I created in October based on an idea I hatched nine months ago. --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 10:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both. Campaigning has no place on a free encyclopedia. -- freeradster 21:53, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete. Wikipedia is not a soapbox. Cheers, ✎ Peter M Dodge ( Talk to Me • Neutrality Project ) 22:03, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete Wikipedia:WikiProject No divisive wikigroups -Docg 02:43, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both - WikiProjects coordinate editors. They're not political campaigns. -- Selmo (talk) 05:09, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Feh. Delete both or none. --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 10:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both. Overly divisive and unhelpful. If people want to argue for or against ads they can do it without a WikiProject.--Dycedarg ж 10:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete all pages. Overly divisive and unhelpful. Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 05:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both Not based on enhancement of article content.--MONGO 08:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both. Off-encyclopedia website campaigning, which of course will not affect the decision of the Wikimedia Foundation on the issue. Michaelas10 (Talk) 19:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both quite simply not helpful to the community, which is what Projects should be. Pascal.Tesson 20:29, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete Both not helpful, not constructive, divisive if anything, no real relation to editing/management. Besides, the ads thing is moot point anyhow. Dåvid Fuchs (talk / contribs) 02:26, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Delete both, not a constructive WikiProject. Not a project actually, basically just a campaign. Terence Ong 12:28, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep both, useful projects. Note: there are currently 93 members and 100 associates listed on the "No Ads" wikiproject page. There are no members listed on the "Yes Ads" project, but there are 12 users in Category:Wikipedians who think that the Wikimedia Foundation should use advertising (and 713 users in Category:Wikipedians against advertisements). Given these numbers, in my opinion, deletion of these WikiProjects (or the No Ads one, anyway) with less than several hundred delete votes would be against a clearly evident consensus. ~leif ☺ (talk) 06:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
