[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Stop fair use
Do we really need WikiCampaigns? If it were a proposal ... ok, but this is a WikiProject whose sole purpose is to be a campaign. --BigDT 18:18, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Delete per nom and HighInBC's comments on the project page and project talk page. Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use is available if the project's creator wants to discuss changes to Wikipedia's fair use policies. --Muchness 19:16, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
- Delete per Muchness - I don't want to discourage any user from starting a discussion on policies/guidelines, but Wikiprojects aren't the way to do that. | Mr. Darcy talk 19:36, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

- Move to Wikipedia:WikiProject for replacing fair use with free content (or whatever), whose aim will be to find (and encourage others to do so) free content to replace existing fair use one. Миша13 20:45, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

- Delete per the arguments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Promotional Photo Advocacy. Promotion of viewpoints, whether in articles or polices is not an appropriate use of wikiprojects. Eluchil404 04:53, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

- This seems like a spill-over from a dispute there a while ago. See for example Usuario:Gol, for someone who approves of fair use (with absolute CSS positioning and everything!) and Usuario:Sanbec, for the counterexample, with the same tactics. This conflict began with a policy vote a few months ago, and it seems that they want the debate to pour over here. I don't think that is going to work. Delete. - Delete - not a battleground. --Arnzy (talk • contribs) 15:15, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

- Delete We have tons of infrastructure down for handling Fair Use content; one random discussion isn't going to have weight. If we'd make policy changes of this magnitude, it'd need a longer voting period, much more gradual approach, and a whole lot more of planning. And I'm not voting here anyway because both options say "Sign here to stop Fair Use" =) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 12:02, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- Delete. By the way, has anyone considered that without fair use, we essentially cannot quote (without explicit permission) any work that is not in the public domain? - Jmabel | Talk 22:30, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
- Delete not what a wikiproject is for, wikiprojects are to collaborate to improve a subject or tackle a task (such as backlogs) not to campaign for or against something. James086Talk | Contribs 08:24, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Delete and do not move. Misza13 proposes moving to "WikiProject for replacing fair use with free content". I think fair use replacement is a wonderful idea for a WikiProject (if it's not already being done), but moving this one would not be a good way to do so. We shouldn't tell the WikiProject participants, "We're gonna take away this project and change it into something else". That would set an unfortunate precedent in MFD debates regarding WikiProjects. We can change the name of a WP, but we shouldn't change its purpose. Of course, no one "owns" a WikiProject, but when someone joins a WP on "banning fair use", it's because they want to stop fair use, even if we feel it's not a proper goal for a WikiProject, which I and many other users do. szyslak (t, c, e) 09:18, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

- Delete. I left tips for the creator of the wikiproject on how he can reduce the use of fair use and without creating strife, as what this will do. I suggest consel for this user, since I feel like he is a new person to English Wikipedia, but has come from another Wiki that has disabled uploads on their wikis (German, Swedish and Spanish are the examples I can think of).
