[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Paris Streets
While a noble idea... this project violates WP:NOT, specifically "Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information" and previous precedents that we don't keep articles on all streets that aren't numbered or notable (Please see recent discussions on British B roads for examples.) Gateman1997 19:57, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Delete is my vote if not clear.Gateman1997 19:59, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, B-roads in Britain are nn, but this is a wikiproject for (presumably major) Paris streets. Xoloz 21:11, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- Actually their stated goal is for a "short article on every street" in Paris.Gateman1997 21:22, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- OK, that needs to change. Where, as here, the Project has a good use not expressed properly in its guideline, the solution is to edit the guideline, not delete the Project. Xoloz 21:46, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- I have so edited, inserting the word "notable". The Project is now within guidelines. Xoloz 21:48, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- Keep - This will be no "list of streets", rather a collection of real articles, and I think we can safely assume that the most notable of Paris' streets will appear first. I for one will not be "dumping stubs" and this is not the intention of this project - its project page makes this pretty clear I think. PS: It would be kind of you to indicate what part of WP:NOT this article violates - this would make your argument clearer. Thanks. ThePromenader 20:22, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Keep Some Paris streets are obviously notable, and we have similar articles for streets in London and NYC. Xoloz 21:09, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- Keep. Nothing wrong with streetcruft. --SPUI (talk | don't use sorted stub templates!) 06:55, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Strong Keep major streets of a Global city seem clearly a valid target for a project. Dlyons493 Talk 13:21, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Just to again clarify, when this was AFDed the projects focus was not major streets, but all streets in Paris from alleys to blvds... Xoloz has since changed the criteron of the project to protect if from deletion.Gateman1997 20:38, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Keep, doesn't violate WP:NOT. If you don't like the focus of a project, the solution is not to delete the project but rather to join it and help to form consensus on the project's direction, per Xoloz (good job, Xoloz). JYolkowski // talk 01:54, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
- Keep since it explicitly states that the aim is to create articles about notable streets. Paris is hardly far enough off the beaten track to qualify as countering systemic bias, but the aim seems to me both benign and encyclopaedic (and I speak as one who abhors cruft in all its forms). - Just zis Guy, you know? - Keep, per Xoloz.--Sean|Black 00:48, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
