[edit] Wikipedia:Today's featured list

This "proposal" purports to be running an experiment on another proposal for Main Paging featured lists. Basically, this is the third proposal in the last month or so for such a process. Not only is the page massively redundant but it presumes to enforce the results of what it bills "an experiment" onto the Main Page despite acknowledging that Featured Lists don't have consensus to appear on the Main Page. This page has absolutely no use, at the very least it shouldn't be in the Wikipedia namespace. The first rejected proposal is here, a voting system that was roundly rejected. The second proposal was just for lists to appear on the Main Page, seen here. The page I am nominating for deletion acknowledges that the second proposal is unlikely to gain consensus at this point. What's the point of this page? Delete.

  • Speedy Keep There is no reason to halt a proposal. It should just be allowed to run. Both prior proposals had significant majorities.   • Keep Just because the proposal is bad doesn't mean the page should be deleted. It need to be talked about and disscused. I am sure main people want Lists on the Main Page, but a proposal needs to worked out, which can't happen if the page is deleted. The Placebo Effect 18:13, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
    There is already a FL on the Main Page proposal. No one can explain why we need this, because we don't, discuss it on the proposal already being proposed. Two proposals on the same topic? What for? IvoShandor 18:18, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Keep - this is a proposed policy, and so far it appears to have quite a positive response from the community. One person not liking it is not a reason for deletion. If ultimately this gets rejected by the community, then it can be tagged as historical, but there should be documentation kept to show what was proposed. At present, we aren't ready to make a decision whether or not this is accepted or rejected. Ryan Postlethwaite 18:35, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Keep OK, it's been discussed before, and recently. I would like to see it fully discussed and a community consensus position reached. Once this is done, the discussion can then be cited as a precedent should the issue arise again in the near future.
