[edit] Wikipedia:Profanity

This page directly conflicts with WP:NOT censored for minors. Instead of ignoring it like most people seem to do with policies lately, we might as well get rid of it altogether. karmafist 03:49, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

• Keep This helps keep me for inserting inappropriate langauge into the article of every <expletive removed by self> Republican politician; good reminder. ;) However, we should all be careful the policy is never overstated: a picture of autofellatio belongs in autofellatio, for goodness' sake. This is a reasonable policy since it allows the use of profanity where it would be appropriate to include it; see Harry Frankfurt for an example where it is appropriate, and this edit for an example where it was not. Note, however, that this is policy (not just a guideline now), and any changes to it should reflect consensus. --Metropolitan90 19:37, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

• Speedy Keep -This is currently listed as a policy, but even it it was listed as a guidline, changes or decomisioning should be discussed on it's Talk Page, or perhaps on WP:VPP, not backdoor'ed via MFD. xaosflux ^Talk/_CVU 05:33, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
• Keep. Like it or not, it's currently listed as official policy, so it shouldn't be deleted through this process; it can be discussed regarding amending or repealing it as a policy in its own talk page. *Dan T.* 05:36, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
• Keep. Policies get changed with discussion, not deletion, and see Kirill Lokshin's comment for my take on the censorship issue. Also note that the're are numerous time when profanity is appropriate- discussing the "shit" scene in Transformers: The Movie, or the contents of Resevoir Dogs, The Big Lebowski, or Scarface, but the majority of encyclopediac language is not profane.--Sean|Black 05:41, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
• Keep. I think this is a good guideline for how to deal with articles that are about profane terms and also about quoting stuff that use profanity.
