This page was previously listed for deletion here in 2005; that discussion closed with no consensus.

Naconkantari tagged this page with {{prod}}. As this can't be used on pages in the Wikipedia namespace, I am listing it here. The reason given by Naconkantari was:

If the server is down, this page won't be much help. There have been no edits since 24 July 2006.

• Keep This page provides information that users can record and keep on file for use in case the server is down. It may be that few will do so, but some will. The information is at least potentially helpful, and i can't see that it can do any possible harm. DES ^(talk) 18:13, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
  • I should add that there was also an MfD in 2005, that discussion is at Wikipedia:Miscellaneous deletion/Wikipedia:Contingency Page For When The Main Wikipedia Server Is Down and also had a no consensus result -- i closed that one. DES ^(talk) 18:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

The MediaWiki software provdies informative error messages when the site in unavailable. Naconkantari 18:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

• Strong keep. It does no harm, and the use is to provide a place that people can bookmark for use then. If the websites it links to are inactive, that's a different matter. Abeg92contribs 18:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

• Delete - neither page is updated frequently (especially Berlios, AFAIK). MediaWiki error messages already provide the relevant information ("You can go to #wikipedia and ask what's wrong"), but most importantly... if the server is down, how is anyone going to see this page? • Delete. "You should bookmark those two sites, because of course once Wikipedia is down, you won't be able to access this page" - self-explanatory. • Tag historical - it's been around for 4 years. There probably was a time when the server message wasn't around; this is a clear part of Wikipedia history, and should be tagged historical. But oh, do the snowballs burn. Gracenotes^T § 17:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
