Copyvio attack page against a Florida gubernatorial candidate; editor's only edits were one to this page and a handful to the candidate's page. BD2412 T 03:36, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

- so1oman 20:30, 14 March 2006 (UTC) There is no copyright violation. I am the original author and editor of both articles and have posted them elsewhere as well. All content is fully supported by the linked 'pdf' (Adobe) files. I can add copyright notices to the related articles if that would help. email4hill@comcast.net
- so1oman I have added my copyright notification to the related articles.
- The copyright issues seem to have been resolved. This is nevertheless an editorial that seems to have little to do with the creation of an encyclopedia. We allow some latitude on userpages but they are still provided for the benefit of Wikipedia. Unless you can make a claim that this is contributing to the creation of an article somewhere, this does appear to be a misuse of the userspace. Please read Wikipedia:User page. - Delete. Wikipedia is not a free webspace provider, especially for political messages. --TantalumTelluride 23:07, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- so1oman Do whatever you feel is appropriate. No sense arguing with you. I assume you'll be deleting all other contributions that can be interpreted as containing political messages, right? So much for encyclopedic entries that reflect varying viewpoints. At least readers will have access to YOUR viewpoint, if no one else's. Seems like a rather hollow legacy to leave behind. —This unsigned comment is by 66.177.204.152 (talk • contribs) .
- Wikipedia attempts to maintain a neutral point of view in all of its articles. The appropriate material for controversial articles and for articles related to politics is determined through collaborative discussion among editors, and occasionally some other means of dispute resolution is required. Of course, the neutral-point-of-view policy is concerned primarily with articles, not with user pages. A little more leeway is allowed in user space than is allowed in articles. For example, users are allowed to state their political affiliations and their views on political issues. However, they must still stay within certain guidelines, and recent discussions in the community have resulted in relatively conservative guidelines for political messages in user space. For one thing, divisive and hateful content is not allowed, and personal attacks are strictly forbidden. And user space is certainly not intended to be a place for article forks or variations. And users who have made no or very few edits to articles and show no signs of editing regularly in the future are usually regarded with suspicion, so they are probably not going to be able to develop extensive user space, since Wikipedia is not a free webspace provider. There are plenty of political forums and message boards on the web, but unfortunately Wikipedia is not one of them. --TantalumTelluride 05:21, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
