The reason for deletion is that this page is redundant since it is linked to my IP number and not my user name. (I don't need two talk pages, and all of the changes that were made under my IP number have been reverted). 72.197.190.17 01:30, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Originally prodded by the user here, which was subsequently removed by User:UsaSatsui, here. The user then provided the MfD rationale I pasted above, with this edit. Yeah, I think my address is dynamic, (my IP address is static...see below) which is why I am going to use my username in the future. But for now my IP has still not changed, and probably it won't for awhile.
Of course if my IP does change, then whomever gets it next will inherit those annoying "you have messages" alerts that appear at the top of every wikipedia article, and I'm sure you'll hear from them shortly afterward. -- 72.197.190.17 08:00, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

So I can now make contributions either under my user name, or using my IP address. I know I'm new to wikipedia, but this seems pretty ridiculous. I don't know why I feel like I have to ask but---you guys did read the page that we are talking about right? It's not exactly encyclopedia material, which is why I gave it a nice make-over with the fancy map and little user tags, but even with the map and the cute user tags, I really can't understand why deleting it is controversial. -- Mr. 72 08:11, 22 September 2007 (UTC) -- 72.197.190.17 08:14, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Speedy Delete - The user is using his talk page as a userpage. He also has a POV rant on there about "British racism" which I, and others, find offensive. Take it to a forum, please, not an encyclopaedia. ScarianTalk 09:58, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes! Speedy DeleteExactly...Talk pages should not be used as userpages, plus I have a talk page and a user page under my username, which makes this IP linked page redundant. The "British Racism" part is offensive. I never meant to say that I think British people are racist, I was just talking about one British wikipedia editor who was (maybe less racist than) nativist.   • Keep. In general, talk pages are not deleted (according to WP:USER). Plus, this is an IP address, and one that's dynamic by admission of the user of the IP. Just blank it and move on, there's nothing wrong with that. --UsaSatsui 16:47, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
No! Don't Keep I have contact Cox (my ISP), and my IP is static, but even then, if I move to a different town, it will change, so it is by no means connected to be permanently. Plus, I am missing a part of your logic here...if my IP is not static, then isn't that even more reason to delete this page, since it won't always be connected to me? As I stated earlier, if my IP is given to another Cox customer, then they will inherit those annoying "You have a message" things that show up every time you read a wikipedia article, and I am sure they will soom make a request to delete this page as well. UsaSatsui I can't help but point out that you obviously have not read the Pip (Southpark episode) talk page that the page for deletion talks about, and I'd be surprised if you have even read the previous versions of the page that is up for deletion...you seem to be regurgitating rules based on this conversation alone, which is not helpful; everyone in this conversation is just as able to read the rules as you, and unlike you, we have actually researched the page that is up for deletion...so if you really want to spend your time on this debate, please go to the history of the User talk:72.197.190.17 page (the one up for deletion) and read every version (there are not very many) and then go to the Pip (southpark episode) talk page and read the changes and previous versions of that page that the page up for deletion is discussing.     • ...what the heck are you babbling about? User talk pages don't get deleted unless there's a very, very good reason for it, that includes IP addresses that may or may not be you. And I don't need to look at a completely unrelated talk page to make that decision. --UsaSatsui 21:54, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Delete I am the person who caused the creation of this page, the owner of the IP it is linked to, and the person who asked for this page to be nominated for deletion. This page was created as a discussion about a talk entry that I modified. The entry I modified was vaguely racist, and I was trying to remove the racist parts while still keeping the helpful parts. In the end, I reverted all of the changes I had made. This page should be deleted for the following reasons:
  1. This page is redundant because I already have a talk page and user page that is connected to my user name.
  2. This page is also redundant because it reiterates the rules in a way that is unclear and inaccurate, without providing any information or insight that cannot be found on the rule pages themselves.
  3. This page is being misused as it is a talk page that has become a user page.
  4. The discussion in the history of this page is redundant because the record of the changes made to the Pip (southpark episode) talk page that it refers to have also been recorded in the history for that page.
  5. The discussion in the history of this page is useless because it discusses a change that was completely reverted without explaining why the change was reverted (the reason the change was reverted was because I was just trying to help and the anger I received in response caused me to be disgusted by Wikipedia in general).
  6. This page is disruptive since it causes a "you have a message" alert to appear when me or anyone in my building reads a Wikipedia article, and if my IP is given to another Cox customer then that customer will have the same complaint.
  7. This page is an embarrassment to Wikipedia since it documents the hatred of Wikipedia editors (including myself, I'm afraid) with no proposed solution or resolution.
  8. This page, and the discussion on if we should delete it, is an example of wasted resources since all of this time is being spent on a decision that cannot possibly affect the content of any article or article talk page (Remember, we are talking about a talk page for an anon user who has not made any changes to Wikipedia).
  9. This page has the potential to disrupt future users since I will not have this IP forever, and the future bearer of this IP will be stuck with a talk page that has nothing to do with them, and a "you have messages" warning on the top of every Wikipedia article they read that will not go away.
  10. This page contains no encyclopedic content
  11. This page contains only original research which cannot possibly be verified
  12. This page is offensive with no purpose or use which warrants such offense.
  13. I have never been warned about anything (as far as I am aware) and the removal of this page is not an attempt to remove records of vandalism warnings or in any other way defraud Wikipedia.
  14. This request for deletion, as well as the article being deleted, were generated in good faith with an honest and pure desire of improving Wikipedia and ensuring that Wikipedia is a pleasant experience that all editors can enjoy and be proud of.

If anyone who has contributed to the page up for deletion is in objection of it being deleted, please state your purpose and name here so we can be clear of if the people who object to the deletion of this article are actually those who are aware of it's history: I am one of the original contributors to the talk page for 72.197.190.17 and object to its deletion:

  • Delete - Please people, this is going to be the most confusing MfD ever. Per WP:SNOW, the talk page should be deleted and that's it. It is not really a talk, because the IP address solely expressed his point of view in a talk page, which is not the correct use of talk pages and not even appropriate to Wikipedia. ~Iceshark7 09:09, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
