Not an editor's page: Only edits (2, both in September) are to this page. WP is not MySpace/a free webhost. Was tagged with PROD, but removed by User:Anþony with the comment "not a weblog, nor excessive personal material. Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers" -- displaying, in my opinion, a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of user pages. ) Calton | Talk 22:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

• Obviously it's going to get deleted, so I won't even bother voting, but this seems a little excessive to me. I know what user pages are for and suggesting otherwise is a bit impolite without at least discussing the matter with me first. I don't accept that the user page is being used as a personal webspace; it seems like a legitimate way for the user to introduce himself to other Wikipedians. He may not be an active editor now, but someday he might be. Logging in to see your user page deleted is not a very welcoming sight. It contributes to a general negative impression of the project for new users for no real reason. Keeping it harms nothing, saving it may gain Wikipedia a useful editor one day. –  Anþony  talk  20:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

• Keeping what amounts to a MySpace page around on the off-chance that the editor might -- somehow, someday -- show up again and be a real editor -- despite the fact that 90-95% are never heard from again -- displays a certain naivete. And yes, encouraging the notion that the enormous Google-bending power of Wikipedia can be abused as a form of MySpace Lite DOES harm the project. --Calton | Talk 07:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
