The result of the debate was delete. This clearly does not meet any speedy deletion criteria. It was a userspace mirror of an expired prod. That being said, it still violates WP:NOT. WP:BITE is less relevant, given that a significant period of time occured between its creation and its nomination for deletion (with no improvements in the intervening time). The user in question has been given notice, has not fixed the article, and there is no legitimate reason to keep it. IronGargoyle 04:05, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:Whynatte
Wikipedia is not a free web host. Smells like a copy of a deleted article. User has made few (if any) encyclopedic contributions. Contested prod. MER-C 09:40, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Delete As a violation of WP:NOT.--James, La gloria è a dio 10:15, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Why do you want to delete my account? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.56.21.55 (talk • contribs)
- Comment Read WP:NOT and you will see why. Cheers.--James, La gloria è a dio 02:47, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Keep per WP:BITE... page doesn't appear to be a previously deleted article (Whynatte has never existed) and a small story and a recipe on a user page is hardly the makings of a WP:NOT myspace page we'd delete. -N 03:03, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I still do not get what is going on, can someone explain?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.56.21.55 (talk • contribs)
- WP:NOT says "Wikipedia is not a free web host". It is against WP:NOT to use it as a website. The user space is meant to have a little about you and mostly be about you on wikipedia. I know that the policy sucks but that does not mean we don't have to follow it. I believe that people should be able to write about themselves all they want, and have humor pages but it is against WP:NOT and other policies. Have a nice week and God bless.--James, La gloria è a dio 16:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- N, why are you saying keep because WP:BITE? Just because someone is new is not a reason to delete there user space. Also, even if people voted to delete because it violates WP:NOT and because he is new then WP:BITE would not be a good enough reason to keep.--James, La gloria è a dio 16:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Read what happened at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Bluwiki123. It helped scuttle my RfA. Please also see [[1]] where overapplication of WP:NOT drove a good editor completely off Wikipedia. Whynatte's page is small. It is not myspaceish at all. Nominating it for deletion is excessive. Please also read WP:UP for the user page guidelines...this page is well within them. -N 19:55, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also did you actually read WP:BITE? "nothing scares potentially valuable contributors away faster than hostility or elitism"...Elitism such as telling someone they can't have a userpage without explaining WHY or even trying to talk to them about it first violates WP:BITE. -N 19:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- The correct action to take here would be to quietly speedy the page and ask the user to create a proper user page. Coming to this deletion forum created unnecessary fuss. --Tony Sidaway 20:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- Delete: Since it doesn't match any of the criteria for speedy deletion, it must come here. But, it's complete drivel, so it should be deleted.--Rambutan (talk) 06:57, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Comment Its not myspaceish but it is being used as a webspace. It is not excessive to nominate this because it is a violation of WP:NOT. Have a nice week.--James, La gloria è a dio 10:43, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also, if he puts stuff about him on wikipedia on his User page I will be willing to change my vote. --James, La gloria è a dio 10:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
