[edit] User:Shomti
User page designed as an article on a fictional character, but user has no edits to mainspace and Wikipedia is not MySpace. —Angr 16:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

- Abstain, courteously These should be brought to the attention of the user in question first to make them aware of the policies. By bringing straight to MfD, we are not assuming good faith nor welcoming a newbie. The user has no history of blatant vandalism or side-stepping the rules. Nomination is not appropriate at this time; please reconsider discussing with the user in question first.--12 Noon 18:02, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- He's not a newbie, he's been around since September, tweaking his user page and otherwise not contributing to the encyclopedia. —Angr 18:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
- Understood, but
manysome users do not contribute beneficially for several months, sort of a "breaking in" period - it took me more than a month before I started editing on my original account. Regardless, I consider no discussion with the user as a breech of civility, no matter what the situation (except obvious vandalism). :) --12 Noon 20:31, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

- Delete Violation of WP:NOT. This totally does not belong here. The user is not a newbie either.--SJP:Happy Verterans Day! 20:25, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Do I have a saying here? Honestly I wasn't trying to damage wikipedia. And yes most of the info on the page is fictional. I figured that it was MY user page it didn't really matter what was on it. Personally, I thought it just showed I had a sense of humor (since I don't readily give off personal info) but if fictional entries are prohibited I'll gladly let it be deleted. I honestly looked for the rules in making user pages but couldn't find any. Maybe I'm blind/stupid but I surfed around the wikipedia pages and couldn't find any list rules for editing, actully. ---Shomti

- Comment This was my point exactly. Shomti, please see Wikipedia:User page for a full run-down, if you have not already done so. Your mistake simply is "Extensive discussion not related to Wikipedia". NBD. (BTW, it is not your userpage, it is actually WP's.) I am requesting the MfD be withdrawn and the user allowed to self-correct the user page, as it seems to all be in good faith. Happy editing!--12 Noon 17:33, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Shomti, you're welcome to redesign your user page in accordance with Wikipedia:User page either now (in which case I'll withdraw the request for deletion) or after deletion (if it gets deleted, that doesn't mean you're never allowed to put anything there -- just not the silliness that's there now). But please do also contribute to the encyclopedia; Wikipedians generally don't like keeping user pages for people who never help out. —Angr 18:51, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
MFD withdrawn by nominator.
