The result of the debate was Speedy keep - these aren't going to get deleted, see WP:USER and these users do not have headers to turn the project into a social networking site. Ryan Postlethwaite 15:59, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User:Shell Kinney/Header
I am nominating this page, and all the pages listed below [and any further that are deemed worthy of deletion] for deletion for the following reasons. Firstly, Wikipedia is not a social network. These templates, although doing little harm, clog up userpages and serve no purpose. Links to talk pages and contribs are in the Wiki interface, and others can be added as plain links [why you would want to have a personal sandbox when there is a perfectly good one already existing is beyond me]. Secondly, massive templates with complex code put a) heavy load on the Wikipedia servers, and b) heavy load on some people's internet connections [<128kbps]. Editors who are on pay-per-meg internet do not want 2Mb in costs just to download some fancy-schmanzy header when they go to someone's userpage. Sorry about the ranting but I felt it was justified. - Comment on sandboxes. Users have their own sandboxes because they're permanent places to work. If I want to develop an article over time in the sandbox, using my own is the only guarantee that it's not replaced by ZOMG I CAN EDIT!!! posts of new users in the Wikipedia sandbox. Plus, the Wikipedia sandbox is reset frequently, so your work can continuously get lost. Metros (talk) 15:54, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hard to take a guy serious who has to create a new account just to make a point. Maybe you want to try using Lynx? Shell babelfish 15:57, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
