The result of the debate was keep, as there is nothing that's against the policy unless you make a very strong overinterpretation of WP:UP, which is not even a policy. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 08:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User:Shatilov Konstantin
Not related to the encyclopedia. Probably an advertisement for the user's own website. Diletante (talk) 20:35, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Comment I recognize the words he uses on this page, but when I put them together I get flashes of Yoda. In seeing the problems this user has with the language (especially obvious (infamously?) in this AfD) I am not convinced that this page could be called an advertisement, since I have no idea what is being written about. I tried putting it into the Google translator, but that didn't help any. I'd be satisfied just tagging it {{Humor}}; way too priceless to delete! --12 Noon 2¢ 21:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - I'm baffled by this nom, it's a userpage, it doesn't have anything obviously an
addad or anything I could interpret as promotional. It's full of wikilinks and even references (amazing on a userpage, even if they're paper and ink and in French, etc.). And amazingly the editor claims to be the copyright holder on all of the images so there are no fair use issues. Strange, but perfectly acceptable.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 05:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)- I respect your opinion but since you say you are baffled by my nom, I thought I might clarify my reasoning. WP:UP#NOT says that you should avoid substantial content on your user page that is unrelated to Wikipedia. It also says pages kept in userspace should not be designed to functionally substitute for articles or Wikipedia space pages. Wikipedia is not a free webhost. I think this user page pretty clearly goes against the spirit of these guidelines. It is hard to see if this is promotional or not, but it contains several links to www.karma-laws.ru which seems to be an advertisement for a book. -- Diletante (talk) 20:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- I agree it's not a normal userpage, looks more like an article in userspace but unless it's a copy of an existing article I continue to think it should be kept. The material looks more like a draft of an article to come and appears to me to be related to Wikipedia, if some of the links are inappropriate the user should be asked to remove them, rather than deleting the page.(and I'm not saying they are or they aren't, I haven't counted them - but several links to one website could probably be reduced to one link but aren't necessarily a problem). We're normally pretty liberal about interpreting WP:UP. Maybe baffled was a little strong, but I think that requires a pretty strict interpretation from what we're used to. --Doug.(talk • contribs) 18:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks for discussion. I try to create the article from a material which I have. But it is difficult, as I have understood, that my automatic translator badly works. Terminology ru.wiki does not coincide en. wiki. I hope, that my material will help another to create articles on similar themes. In ru.wiki I have created articles: Aura (paranormal), Orgone (orgon energy), Bipyramid, energy pyramids (synonyms- Pyramid power, healing pyramid, pyramid healing system). All it concerns to New Age. Yours sincerely,Shatilov Konstantin (talk) 10:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Comment - let me clarify too that my comment "Strange, but perfectly acceptable" was not in any way meant to be disparaging it was an meant as acknowledgment of my own POV; I'm sure that Shatilov Konstantin does not find it "Strange" at all and probably has no interest in some topics I follow closely. :-) Sorry if that was offensive.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 17:40, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - User appears to be intending to add material to mainspace. Acceptable under userpage guidelines. --BelovedFreak 16:04, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- Keep per WP:BITE and per my reasoning in the essay Wikipedia:Editors matter. This is an acceptable use of userspace. WaltonOne 17:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
