[edit] User:Ral315/Selfref straw poll
Contains a poll, which is a violation of WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_Democracy. Although Ral315 probably has good intentions for this page, it is still eligible for deletion. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 03:00, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Comment Is there anything explicitly stating that polls should be deleted? Yes, WP is not a democracy, and we shouldn't vote on everything, but this is a straw poll and not an official vote. If there is a policy that says that all polls should be killed, then by all means, kill this one; otherwise, I see nothing wrong with it. -- Kicking222 04:09, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- keep nothing wrong with strawpolls, particularly on a userpage. it's just an organized way to get input, and people usually explain themselves anyway. Same format as an RFA, isn't it? Derex 04:12, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep; nomination is a bad-faith one because Ed's in a dispute with me over this topic and doesn't like that I'm not the only one opposing his beliefs. Ral315 (talk) 05:59, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep - nothing official about this, so nothing is wrong. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. I don't see any rationale for deletion. If you don't like the way discussion is going, you're more than welcome to join it. Luna Santin 06:12, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. Wikipedia is not a democracy, but it is a community that values consensus. Taking decisions based on consensus requires that we know what others think, regardless of whether we count votes or not. —[admin] Pathoschild 06:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC) 06:13, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep - You are absolutely excellent at twisting Wikipolicy, Ed. After looking it all over, I'm tempted to agree with Ral315's assertion that this is a bad faith nom, particularly after your histronics about the whole mess of Esperanza games. There is nothing in WP:NOT that suggests that this would be a candidate for deletion. --Shrieking Harpy Talk|Count 06:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep I find this poll was simply another endorsement for Wikipedia:Avoid self-references and this MfD rather self-serving. Please attempt to join in discussion rather than squelch it. ~Kylu (u|t) 06:15, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep I don't see anything in our policies to suggest this is not allowed. --Wolf530 (talk) 06:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Speedy keep per WP:SNOWBALL. "..not a Democracy" doesn't mean we can't have polls or even "vote". It means we should normally use discussion over such formats for most cases, but in some situations they're perfectly fine. -- Ned Scott 06:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I vote we keep this page. --Carnildo 07:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep - Ed, with all due respect, just let it go... riana_dzasta 19:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Keep. Elaragirl/Shrieking Harpy summed it up nicely. Moreschi 18:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
