- comment there appears to be some reasonable concerns over the user page content, looking at the editors comment on your talk page maybe the problem could have been resolved without the need for this nomination. I think it would be worth extending some good faith, withdraw this nomination and try talking directly to the editor. Gnangarra 15:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Speedy close I don't want to keep it but I want the person to be given a reasonable opportunity to fix the page themselves before we do it forceably. Kfc1864, I can see that you are trying to do the right thing, but it looks like you nominated the page for deletion without even discussing the matter with this user; they then asked you at least twice to explain what the problem is; you told them "It breaks policies"; then a couple of messages back and forth and they stated, "Please, don't edit until I return from school and have a chance to do most of what you say properly without rushing,"[1] which seems to me like an entirely reasonable request. Okay, I agree the page is not appropriate use of userspace, but the person seems willing to fix it voluntarily and I think they ought to be given the opportunity to do so. I also think it is extremely unfair and bitey to nominate somebody's userpage for deletion without even having the manners to inform them first. There may be some copyright issues, I'm not sure, but that can easily be fixed, especially when the editor seems to be indicating their willingness to conform with policy. I would like this MfD to be withdrawn or speedy closed and for someone to help this person fix their page and then the history can be selectively deleted if necessary, but I don't think we need to forceably blanket delete it. I don't think this MfD is appropriate or fair and it doesn't seem to be in the "Wikipedia spirit" of being welcoming and assuming good faith and so on. Sarah 16:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
