The result of the debate was Keep - The only delete argument was based entirely on RyRy5's program and was only supported by the nominator, the clear consensus is that the program is substantially unlike RyRy5's program. Diligent Terrier's suitability as an adopter, alluded to by the nominator, is not a proper issue for MfD. Doug.(talk • contribs) 15:46, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User:Diligent Terrier/Adoption Program
Per the same reasoning as Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Template:User:RyRy5/Adoption Program, and with similar concerns re. Diligent Terrier as those raised re. RyRy5 being an effective adopter. dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 04:52, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- keep - This is significantly different from RyRy5's page. It's just a separate place for his adoptees to ask questions. There is no hierarchy or bureaucracy, and the userboxes even contain links to WP:ADOPT. Equazcion •✗/C • 05:54, 6 Apr 2008 (UTC)
- change wording
keep, adenda: per ecquazion's comment below, the title looks like he WP:OWNs the program. Same as equazcion, it lacks all the elements that caused the deletion of RyRy's page. Only point that could apply would be the giving out of bad advice, but that should be brought up at the WP:ADOPT page --Enric Naval (talk) 10:07, 6 April 2008 (UTC) - Cabal Ooooooooooops, I think that we accidentally stumped the ebil plans of the WP:CABAL to delete all adoption pages on the wiki by using RyRy5's page deletion as a precedent :D --Enric Naval (talk) 10:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Per Equazcion. This is totally different as RyRy5's adoption program. Macy (talk) 17:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep This is only a page where I can keep our discussion organized. It is totally different than RyRy5's adoption program, and does not compete in any way with Wikipedia's adoption program. - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 17:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - This page is not a competetor to WP:ADOPT, in fact it is complementary to it. I can't see any legitimate reaspon to delete, there are very few parrallels to the referenced case. Reece (Talk) (Contributions) 17:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep as above -- Naerii 02:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep this isn't a seperate adoption program, it's just a communication page and has a bold notice stating this. No reason to delete. Hut 8.5 16:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Weak keep The bold notice was added after the MfD started. While this page does not have the bureaucracy issues which were present in the other adoption program-related MfD, I would like to see a modification in the page name to more clearly indicate association with the adopt-a-user program. If I started a subpage and referred to it as "Taroaldo's Adoption Program" some new users might infer some kind of authority from that. The only goal of the adoption program is to help out new users; they should not feel any sense of hierarchy at all. Other than that, the page is fine: the user's intent is clearly to help new users and the page serves that as a forum for discussion. --- Taroaldo (talk) 17:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep per Dilligent Terrier's assertion that it is nothing like RyRy's flawed "school". Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:39, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep Same reasoning as RR5's page? What? We're talking about a different user, different way of running his program, overall different everything. 21655 ωhατ δo γoυ ωαητ? 21:27, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

- I have a bit of a problem with the encouragement of referral to this as "his program", along the lines of Taroaldo's concern above. Adoption shouldn't be thought of as a bunch of different "programs" to run independently of one-another. Now that I see someone referring to it this way, I'd like to see the page name changed to something different. This isn't "Diligent Terrier's adoption program". This is Diligent Terrier's adoptees' page, a part of Wikipedia's adoption program. Equazcion •✗/C • 21:40, 8 Apr 2008 (UTC)
- Keep — this is not an adoption program, simply a page with helpful links for DiligentTerrier's adoptees. If you have concerns about DiligentTerrier's suitability as an adopter, they should be brought up at an appropriate forum, not MfD. Regards, EJF (talk) 19:43, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
