[edit] User:Cott12/Notebook & User:Cott12/Sandbox atęcja
Please consider these two pages: User:Cott12/Notebook, User:Cott12/Sandbox atęcja. AFAIK this is not an appropriate use of a personal page and I think they should be removed. It is original work, "hidden" in the wikipedia sphere, but it may be found and ranked by Google. The second one is a Dutch translation, placed on the English wiki after it was voted unacceptable on the Dutch wiki. JohJak2 21:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep I will try to explain my page. I am an academic in the U.S. with a Masters in philosophy and another degree in cinema. This page has been on my User site for a long time to explain how I feel about philosophy in case anyone cares. My close friend Frank Landsman, M.A. who is head of linguistics in a Catholic University in Indonesia liked it so much that he translated it into Dutch. I felt very honored and proud and so I put it on my Dutch homepage, but there was much contraversy about it being there and it was removed, so I put it on my own sandbox page on English Wikipedia for a while. But this seems to upset people a lot so I have removed it and won't put it back. I have carefully read the terms of Wikipedia about User pages and subpages, and think my short manifesto fits with the concept of community. It does not advertise anything and doesn't even have my name in it. My short book I mention is out of print, so it is not advertising it. About it being Google searchable, I can't think of how, since there is no particular keyword that would take you to my odd little manifesto about advaita vedanta, movie projectors, and God. I hope people will allow me to keep the English version on my User subpage. It has made me some friends on Wikipedia. Also, if you check my contributions you will see that I contribute a lot to Wikipedia in Hinduism, German cinema, Meher Baba, and general philosophy. Chris 23:49, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep - This is a user subpage, it's not "hidden", and it's perfectly fine per WP standards - it's not in the article namespace. Wooty 23:13, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep Notebook This seem like fine uses of userspace to me. — xaosflux Talk 05:28, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep I think in a user subpage one can try to build up an article. It's one possible way to get feedback, learn what can be improved, etc. In this page the content may not stand as an article, but it's a start and a good one from what I see there. Hoverfish 19:02, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
