[edit] User:Abogalambo/Israel's actions
This is just an editorial essay / article that may also be a copyright violation. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 00:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Strong keep if the author wants it kept. This is a brand new user. (S)He created this article in the Sandbox and asked at the help desk how to have it made into an article. I moved it to his/her user space. As you can see on the user's talk page, I have explained why this is problematic and cannot be made into an article. However, if this user would like to rework some of this text, which (s)he has clearly worked hard on, then it should be up to him/her. — Reinyday, 01:07, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ah... I didn't realize the circumstances of the page's creation; I never intended to bite a newcomer. However, I would suggest that, if possible, the source of this information be found and linked to instead. Having the full text of a newspaper(?) article on Wikipedia may be a copyright violation. -- tariqabjotu (joturner) 01:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Speedy Delete. Not appropriate content on Wikipedia. I don't think this could likely be made into anything useful for an article, and it is a copyvio anyhow. --Improv 07:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is a copyright violation from where? — Reinyday, 00:45, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Most likely The Middle East Observer, although I can't produce a website. -- tariqabjotu 01:30, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- There are no results for Eltaher at http://www.meobserver.com nor http://www.middleeastobserver.com . It was/is my guess that this user wrote the article, and describes himself/herself as a "Middle East observer" as his/her title. I think it is really inappropriate to declare something is copyvio without actually knowing it is such. — Reinyday, 01:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- It was not an unreasonable assumption as it certainly looks like a newspaper article. Anyway, judging that the person signed as Hassan, it is indeed possible the editor wrote it by himself. However, if the editor doesn't make contributions to Wikipedia for awhile, I feel the page should be deleted as userspace is not supposed to be used for extended editorial comment, especially by users who rarely contribute. -- tariqabjotu 02:37, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- It is not an unreasonable assumption. Hence Tariqabjotu said, "may also be a copyright violation." You, however, stated that it was one. I cannot stress how inappropriate I think it is to accuse a brand new editor of copryright violation when they have possibly spent a great deal of time writing some content for the site. This should not be deleted. It is in the User space. — Reinyday, 05:08, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

- Delete, not appropriate content for Wikipedia. If the author wants to recover the text for whatever reason (a legitimate concern if this isn't saved elsewhere) he can request temp. undeletion. Christopher Parham (talk) 19:25, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- Delete, user has apparently requested deletion on his/her user page. (I expect it's about that article). --Thunderhead 11:08, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
